Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride In Talks For 30 Minutes Or Less

If you look at the tags for SHA you will see that the number one actor we have covered is Aziz Ansari.  I don't know what that says about our credibility as a movie news blog, but it does say that we love the brand of funny that Ansari likes to sell.  Looks like we aren't the only ones taking notice (like duh), as he now is in talks to star in Ruben Fleischer's Zombieland follow-up 30 Minutes Or Less.

The action comedy, being produced by Red Hour's Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld, became a hot project when director Ruben Fleischer came on board, making it his first movie since "Zombieland" turned him into one of the town's most-wanted men.

Written by Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan, the Black List script revolves around a junior high history teacher (Ansari) and a pizza-delivery man who are forced to rob a bank when one of them is strapped to a bomb vest.

Danny McBride is rumored to be in negotiations to join the movie, playing one of the men looking to score some cash.   [via thr]

Oh Hollywood Reporter, you silly little devil.  Just throwing in that Danny McBride as a bad guy bit as an after thought.  Kenny Powers is no simple after thought.  This project is shaping up to be rather awesome, in fact one might even suggest it has super and hella qualities as well.  We'll keep you updated.

Release Date:
Jun 4 2010
Director:
Nicholas Stoller
Cast:
Russell Brand
Cast:
Jonah Hill
Cast:
Aziz Ansari
Synopsis:
Aaron Green (Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 24—year—old has been given a career—making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.’s world famous Greek Theatre for the first—stop on a huge comeback tour. His record mogul boss, Sergio Roma (Sean Combs), gives him one warning: “The artist is the worst person on Earth. Turn your back on him at your own peril.” British rocker Aldous Snow (Brand) is a brilliant musician, but due to a bad break up and nose—diving career, has fallen off the wagon and is now a drunken disaster. Weary of “yes men” and scared he’s entered the “greatest hits” moment in his career, Snow’s in the midst of a nihilistic downward spiral. When he learns his true love, model/pop star Jackie Q (Rose Byrne), is in Los Angeles, Aldous makes it his quest to win her back…right before kick—starting his world domination. As the countdown to the concert begins, one innocent young man must navigate a minefield of London drug smuggles, New York City brawls and Vegas lap dances to deliver his charge safe and, sort of, sound… all while trying to remain faithful to his med student girlfriend (Elisabeth Moss). He may have to coax, lie to, enable and party with Aldous, but Aaron will get him to the Greek.

I am officially cautiously optimistic about this movie.  Let's hope they don't ruin it with more Sean Combs clips.

Aziz Ansari Set To Host This Year's MTV Movie Awards

According to the LA Times, funny man du jour Aziz Ansari will be hosting this year's version of the MTV Movie Awards.  Make no mistake dear readers, MTV is no longer considered "music television", that's why they didn't change the name.  Either way the MTV Movie Awards are slightly more enjoyable than passing kidney stones, so this probably isn't all that relevant to any of our readers, unless of course you are one of those older people that also happens to like Twilight in which case I think I should inform you that you be crazy.  This year's Twilight lovefest/Movie Awards will air live on June 6th.

Bonnaroo Announces Comedy Lineup, Coco And Aziz Ansari

Justin Bieber Shot Raaaaaaaandy In The Leg, Stole Baby

Raaaaaaaandy is back with the newest track off his upcoming mixtape project with Dave Sitek, and this time he's got a story to tell.  The story of course is that of Justin Bieber and how he stole his song Baby from Raaaaaaaandy.  Figures that he would resort to those kind of actions considering he was willing to lay the first blow in the violent attack on the We Are The World legacy.

If you want to hear how the original track sounded before that pretty little boy came in and gangstered it you can check it out below.

Raaaaaaaandy Is Aaaaaaaangry With Some People

Aziz Ansari has been talking about a new Raaaaaaaandy mixtape that he has been working on with Dave Sitek for a bit now.  Fortunately today we get a little taste of it with their first track Aaaaaaaangry (with eight A's).  As with most funny stuff there is some swearing but you should probably know by now that Raaaaaaaandy has a bad mouth.  Enjoy.

Tom Haverford's Shock and Awe The Ladies System

See video

I recently had the aural pleasure of listening to Aziz Ansari's standup special Intimate Moments For A Sensual Evening.  That's what she said.  For those that haven't checked it out I highly recommend it, it should be on Comedy Central pretty often for the next few months.

Aziz recently gained some notoriety as Raaaaaaaandy in Judd Apatow's somewhat autobiographical, somewhat unfunny film Funny People, still most people know him as Tom Haverford on the NBC comedy Parks and Recreation.  The Haverford character is pretty sure of himself, and thankfully, with this video, he is willing to let us in on some of his secrets.

And what piece of viral advertising is complete without a companion piece.  Here is the trailer for Ron Swanson: Legend Of The Mustache, played to perfection by Nick Offerman.  I would watch the shit out of both of these if they were real.

Aziz Ansari Got His Own Comedy Special

Aziz Ansari has been bringing the funny for quite a while but he really had a bit of a rise online this year with his Raaaaaaaandy fame, not to mention his current role as Tom Haverford on Parks And Recreation.  Now hes got his very own special on Comedy Central.  The hour long special will air January 17th and a CD/DVD to mark the occasion will be released two days later, January 19th.  The special, entitled Intimate Moments For A Sensual Evening,  was filmed over two nights this summer and will feature some Raaaaaaaandy stuff as well as material from his Glow In The Dark tour.

The filming went surprisingly well, according to Ansari. “The crowd gave me a standing ovation after every single joke—there are 53 standing ovations,” he deadpans. “It’s a little distracting, and some people might say, ‘Wait a second, it looks like it was edited to look like there were 53 standing ovations,’ but that’s not the case. Those were all genuine. I know people are thinking, ‘But there are so many great specials and that’s never happened before.’ Well, I don’t know what to tell you. The material was that strong, and that’s the way those people felt they had to respond—by standing up in the exact same fashion for the exact amount of time, 53 times.’”  via

Sounds about right, sign me up.  For all the latest in the world of Aziz be sure to check out his website Aziz is Bored.
