Eddie Murphy

Haiku Reviews: Shrek Forever After

It could have been worse

Like say the last one they made

But it is better

Some of the jokes work

Most of them are the same though

As the last three times

The dance scenes were bad

Really really really bad

And the plot is old

It's nice to be done

It was good while it lasted

It lasted too long

Richard Pryor Getting The Wayans Treatment

We have previously mentioned a Richard Pryor biopic in the works, with box office poison Eddie Murphy rumored to play the lead role.  It seems like the wheels are starting to turn, albeit with Murphy being replaced by ............ Marlon Wayans.  (Fart Sound)

Bill Condon is in discussions with Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison for a deal that would allow him to direct his Richard Pryor film -- with Marlon Wayans playing the legendary standup comedian -- next spring.

In the configuration being discussed, "Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?" would be produced by Happy Madison's Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo, along with Chris Rock, Mark Gordon and Jennifer Pryor. The film would be made for under $20 million, with a spring production start eyed. via

Super Hella Awesome tidbit and probably a good example as to why all of Eddie Murphy's latest projects are absolute garbage.

Paramount and then Fox Searchlight considered it but ultimately decided the budget was too high because of the deal that Murphy was seeking.

Seeking too much money to play one of his supposed idols, cue Alanis Morissette verse. I can't take Eddie Murphy serious anymore, so I am somewhat relieved he is no longer involved.  I actually watched Meet Dave.  On purpose.

The gigantic elephant in the room?  Replacing Murphy with Marlon Wayans.  The whole thing is so preposterous I have to give my 10 reasons why I think this is a bad idea in bullet form.
