Synopsis:
CONVICTION is the inspirational true story of a sister’s unwavering devotion to her brother. When Betty Anne Waters’ (two-time Academy® Award winner Hilary Swank) older brother Kenny (Sam Rockwell) is arrested for murder and sentenced to life in 1983, Betty Anne, a Massachusetts wife and mother of two, dedicates her life to overturning the murder conviction. Convinced that her brother is innocent, Betty Anne puts herself through high school, college and, finally, law school in an 18 year quest to free Kenny. With the help of best friend Abra Rice (Academy Award nominee Minnie Driver), Betty Anne pours through suspicious evidence mounted by small town cop Nancy Taylor (Academy Award nominee Melissa Leo), meticulously retracing the steps that led to Kenny's arrest. Belief in her brother - and her quest for the truth - pushes Betty Anne and her team to uncover the facts and utilize DNA evidence with the hope of exonerating Kenny.

The cast alone makes this seem like something we could be hearing about come awards season, but given the ridiculously excessive voice over in this trailer I'm a bit skeptical. Sam Rockwell is always fantastic so that's a plus even if he does look quite a bit like Jesse James towards the end. Hopefully that will make up for dealing with Hillary Swank's terrible accent for two hours.

Sam Rockwell Gets Down With His Bad Self In A Blue Tuxedo

I'm trying to think of the last movie Sam Rockwell was in where he didn't steal the show but I'm coming up empty. He's unquestionably one of the best actors going right now as everyone that has seen Duncan Jones' Moon can attest to. The video below is some screen test for the George Clooney directed Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind that sees Rockwell as the wildly fascinating Chuck Barris. More specifically the video just features a lot of fancy dancing, like seriously killer dance moves. This is exactly how I used to imagine I look on the dance floor but onetime I actually saw a video and I looked a lot more like someone having an epileptic seizure. A seizure of smooth and classy, but a seizure nonetheless.

Also could that picture look more like he just showed up for the gang bang? Todd Phillips would be proud.   [via filmdrunk]

Synopsis:
Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster film based on the legendary Marvel Super Hero “Iron Man”, reuniting director Jon Favreau and Oscar nominee Robert Downey Jr. In “Iron Man 2”, the world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the armored Super Hero Iron Man. Under pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces.

My mind has a habit of comparing Jon Favreau movies to Kevin Smith movies.  In a lot of ways Clerks and Swingers have quite a bit in common for breakout movies.  Witty banter, no stars, quotable.  Then Favreau tried to really be a director and make movies that look really slick and professional while Smith sort of stuck to the witty banter routine.  I guess what I'm trying to say is that Iron Man 2 looks pretty badass.  Although Sam Rockwell usually does that to a movie.

Obviously if you watched the trailer you know this looks hella awesome. Glad we can agree on that. We'll keep you updated with the viral mania that ensues as the release date approaches.
