A Nightmare On Elm Street

Nightmare On Elm Street Trailer #2

Release Date:
Apr 30 2010
Director:
Samuel Bayer
Cast:
Jackie Earle Haley
Cast:
Rooney Mara
Cast:
Kyle Gallner
Cast:
Katie Cassidy
Synopsis:
A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.

I'm willing to give this a chance simply based on the fact that Bayer directed the Smells Like Teen Spirit video and that the same person who played Kelly Leak will be massacring teenagers in their sleep.  A lot of people have complaints about the remake factor here but would those people really be excited about Nightmare On Elm Street 10 or whatever it would have to be?  I have a hard time believing that.

Nightmare On Elm Street Trailer With Fire

Here is the new teaer trailer for the upcoming Nightmare On Elm Street remake.  There's no Johnny Depp so it probably won't get a Disneyland ride any time soon, but it does feature everyone's favorite chain-smoking little leaguer Jackie Earle Haley playing Freddy Kreuger, the serial kller who haunts your dreams and has a weird face.  Haley recently played the guy with the weird face in Watchmen, and look for him in the currently undeveloped reimagination The Good, The Bad, and The Weird Face.

Jonah Hex, Nightmare On Elm Street, Shutter Island Posters

Recently some posters have made their way on the webs via their debut at Comic Con. These all look fairly awesome to me, although Jonah Hex only qualifies for awesomeness because of the hooker on the right. It's fair, I swear, she plays a hooker in the movie.

Kelly Leak Is Scaring More Kids, First New Freddy Pics

I will admit Kelly Leak was a little intimidating when I was a youngster. What with his cigarette smoking, flowing mane, motorcycle riding, sleeveless shirt wearing awesomeness, it was hard to feel safe around the man. Little did I know he would grow up to get burned to death by his hometown, and subsequently haunt kid's dreams and slice out their innards with his knife fingers. You never really know how kids are going to turn out. Look at me, I'm a classic example. In high school I was voted most likely to date online, and as it turns out I never go on dates. Isn't that right ma? Meatloaf!

Anyhoo, here is the first official picture of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Kreuger from the upcoming Nightmare On Elm Street reboot, which is being directed by music video specialist Samuel Bayer. Producer Brad Fuller tweeted earlier today that another photo of Freddy will be posted this afternoon. I'll update with that when I can. Looks pretty damn creepy, scary, and awesome to me, what are your thoughts of the new Freddy?

Kelly Leak To Quit Baseball, Murder Teenagers

I'm still trying to decide how I feel about this as the Remake Bonanza makes me want to slit my writst and Jackie Earle Haley makes me want to smoke cigarettes, ride a motorcycle, and hunt cougars. I guess you could say I'm vexed.

Jackie Earle Haley is going to Elm Street, signing to star as iconic killer Freddy Krueger in New Line and Platinum Dunes' relaunch of "A Nightmare on Elm Street."

Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing with John Rickard co-producing. Samuel Bayer will direct from Wesley Strick's script, with lensing set to begin next month in Chicago.

Even though Haley did his best Christian-Bale-way-over-the-top-Batman voice as Rorschach in The Watchmen, he was still probably the most interesting part of the film. Add in the fact that his Oscar nominated role in Little Children could essentially be the backstory for Freddy Kreuger, and you have yourself one hell of a choice in my opinion. You will be able to get your next Kelly Leak fix as a crazy mental patient in the Martin Scorcese film Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio. After that you might want to try and forget about him, at least whenever you start feeling sleepy.

Also of note, Bloody-Disgusting.com is reporting "Kyle Gallner (The Haunting In Connecticut) is in final talks to play Quentin, the podcast host and Johnny Depp character".
