68th Golden Globe Nominations Are Here, Hilarious

It's that time of year when the worst of all the film awards shows announces their nominees. Yes I'm talking about the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and their usually mostly ridiculous nominations for the Golden Globes Awards. Don't get me wrong they do a lot of stuff right, but they also have the dumb Comedy Or Musical awards that are reserved for popularity contests instead of quality films.

This year's big winners in quantity are The King's Speech with seven nominations, while The Fighter  and The Social Network each received six and thank god they didn't give Timberlake a nod as these are the douchenozzles most likely to open that Pandora's box. Johnny Depp is cool and all, for serious, but Alice In Wonderland and The Tourist were terrible at best. As for the big nominations in the drama field they seem to be pretty right on, although I assume True Grit should be on the list, I just can't confirm that at this time. What are your thoughts on this year's nominees?

The television nominations are available at the HFPA site if you are interested but they are usually a season behind so it feels like you're looking at three years ago's nominations. I'm looking at you Temple Grandin and You Don't Know Jack. On the plus side Katey Sagal got a way overdue nomination for her stellar work on Sons Of Anarchy, unfortunately it's a Golden Globe.

Meet The Characters Of Christopher Nolan's Inception

This is definitely the most revealing bit of Inception promo material we've posted thus far so those that like their eagerly anticipated movies to be as fresh as possible may want to avoid the video below. Those that can handle a bit of plot and aren't afraid of pseudo-spoilers will most likely enjoy the latest featurette from the Christopher Nolan directed film that summarizes all the various characters involved.

Pretty much every role looks to be nailed and the idea gets more and more intriguing as details start to emerge.  The film hits theaters July 16th and just looks so incredibly awesome I can't even talk impartially about it.  What are your thoughts on Inception?   [via /film]

Inception

That there be the fancy official synopsis to go with the theatrical trailer and new IMAX poster. Nice to get all the official stuff start trickling in as the awesome was beginning to overwhelm. The first time I watched this trailer I peed my pants, the second time I wasn't wearing any. July 16th can't get here soon enough.

Synopsis:
Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible–inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime.

Inception

I'm not sure how I could get more excited about this film.  Possibly if they announced they were serving bacon during the IMAX viewings?  Or if they promote it with midgets riding giraffes dressed as Teen Wolf.  Those are probably the only two ways.  So far so good Team Nolan.

Synopsis:
A contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.

Christopher Nolan's Inception Teaser

Here is the teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's follow up to The Dark Knight, Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm not giving this the fancy trailer treatment because it is only a teaser, and there's little to no good info out there. That being said this kicks ass. Definitely my favorite tag line/teaser bit in a long time

What are your thoughts on Inception?

And if you want to dig a little more you can head on over to Just Jared for a few posts featuring some photos of Leonardo, Ellen Page, and Marion Cotillard in action. Here is one where it appears Leo is reacting to a nearby explosion while those around him are apparently not affected. Possibly the explosion is only in Leonardo's head?

Leonardo Joins Nolan's Inception

One of my favorite types of movies are the ones where really good directors hire really good actors to star in them. That is one of the reasons I am excited for Christopher Nolan's next project, Inception.

Leonardo DiCaprio will star in "Inception," the science-fiction film that Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight") wrote and will direct as his next pic at Warner Bros.

The project shoots this year and is slated to be released in summer 2010, with Nolan and Emma Thomas producing. DiCaprio's deal is in final negotiations.

Script has been kept under wraps but the studio calls it a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.

People are making a big deal about how not much is known yet about the story but to me "sci fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind" is pretty explanatory. I'm thinking of some weird cross between The Thirteenth Floor and The Matrix. I'll keep you updated on this one for sure.

** Nicholas Cage is not attached to this project in any way but how amazing is that picture

Holy Not Batman 3! Nolan Set For Inception

In a big FU to uber nerds everywhere, Christopher Nolan has come to a deal for his next project, a script Nolan has written himself titled "Not Batman 3". Fine, it's called Inception but it might as well be called NB3.

"Chris Nolan is a visionary filmmaker who continually raises the bar with each movie he makes," Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov said. "We are thrilled to be collaborating again with him and Emma on this exciting new motion picture."

"Inception" is described as "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind."

Don't kill yourself people, he's just waiting for the economy to turn around to really get the money truck to back up to his pad for the next Batman. And he gets to make a sweet Christopher Nolan movie on top of it. Sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind is certainly nothing to sneeze at, granted that might have been the pitch for The Dark Knight.
