Way earlier than anyone on the west coast should be awake, Anne Hathaway and some academy dude announced the 2010 Oscar nominees this morning. Set to take place Sunday March 7th, this year's telecast has the added bonus of featuring two hosts that might actually add some funny to the festivities, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Luckily Mosa already filled you in on the details.
As for the nominations there were not too many surprises in there but I had a few thoughts for your digesting, just make sure you are done before you remember The Blind Side was nominated for Best Picture. What better way than to kill this tragedy than will bullet points.
- Has there ever been an ex-husband vs. ex-wife showdown in any category ever at the Oscars? Certainly not as amazing as King of the World Avatar director James Cameron and the woman, Kathryn Bigelow, that actually directed the best movie of the year, The Hurt Locker.
- While on Avatar I have an honest question. Is the judging supposed to be done based on the film or the experience? More importantly is this specified in the rules? Or do we have half of the voters basing their vote on the experience and the other half basing it on how well it holds up on a DVD at home? Personally I think it should be based on the experience, and if it is, Avatar should win.
