Synopsis:
The Other Guys follows Detective Allen Gamble (Ferrell), a forensic accountant who's more interested in paperwork than hitting the streets, and Detective Terry Hoitz (Wahlberg), who has been stuck with Allen as his partner ever since an embarrassing public incident with his quick trigger finger. Allen and Terry idolize the city's top cops, Danson and Manzetti (Johnson and Jackson), but when an opportunity arises for the Other Guys to step up, things don't quite go as planned.

It's hard for me to be anything but extremely excited for this regardless of what it looks like so anything that I say here is really sort of irrelevant.  The Good Cop Bad Cop scene already had me in stitches and the fact that Michael Keaton is going to be in something I'm excited about seeing again just makes me really happy.  Smug Samuel Jackson doesn't hurt either.  Good times.

The Other Guys Adds The Rock, Samuel Jackson

When we last made mention of the upcoming Adam McCay Will Ferrell comedy The Other Guys, it was still going by then name The B Team.  Since then not much has changed but shooting starts this week so they just signed on a few more names.

Dwayne Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson and Steve Coogan are joining the Columbia Pictures comedy "The Other Guys."

Johnson and Jackson will play an elite cop tandem whose exploits are the envy of the department and the second-tier fellow cops played by Ferrell and Wahlberg.

Coogan is set as the villain.

Yes that is the same Dwayne Johnson better know as The Rock.  So far so good on my end, Jackson and Johnson seem like the perfect fit for an "elite cop tandem", and Coogan is pretty great at everything he does in my opinion.  I will be interested to see how Wahlberg handles the cop role but I'm thinking we might get to see something with a little bit of Dirk Diggler.  One can only hope.

Adam McCay To Direct Wahlberg And Ferrell In The B Team

Yes please. This sounds awesome.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired "The B Team," a spec pitch package for an Adam McKay-directed action comedy that will team Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as cops. Chris Henchy and McKay will write the script. The comedy was pitched around town Tuesday by Endeavor and CAA, and Sony co-president Matt Tolmach moved quickly. Tolmach was comfortable committing to a film without a finished script because Columbia worked in the same fashion on "Talladega Nights" and "Step Brothers," both of which were set up with a pitch and the collaborative track record of McKay and Ferrell.

As everyone should know, Talladega Nights and Step Brothers are amazing, so throwing the combo into the cop world is perfect. For some reason Ferrell as Cop With Stache eluded my mind for the past few years, and it just seems perfect. Please don't Semi-Pro this one Will.
