Stream Wild Beasts' Awesome New Album Smother

We're only at the beginning of May and 2011 has already seen its fair share of fantastic new music whether it be super huge bands like Radiohead or the Foo Fighters, new bands like Middle Brother, or even old bands you never thought would get back together like The Cars. Thankfully this isn't a best of seven series or anything and we still have seven months ahead for even more goodness, but it's worth noting this month is especially strong. When Okkervil River's magnificent I Am Very Far hits shelves next week it will be joined by another really great album, Wild Beasts' Smother. I also say this coming from an extreme place of power in the sense that I've already listened to the album and I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.

The follow up to 2009's Two Dancers, and the bands third full length sees the four piece extending the formula that has worked so well thus far, exemplified with the new album's wonderful single "Albatross". We'll try and get a review up soon enough but for now just enjoy the stream in all its legal authorized glory.  [via the guardian]

Music Video Of The Day: Wild Beasts - Albatross

A while back we had the audio for the wonderful single "Albatross" from Wild Beasts upcoming album Smother, which is set for release on May 3rd. Today we have the Dave Ma directed video which if Youtube is to be believed can be summed up nicely in a sentence: "The video emits a sense of reflection about loss and an underlying hope of being free." Sure, I'll buy that although I like my description better: "Black Swan without mirrors or the black swan but with a little bit of the bug stuff from Silence of the Lambs".  The band will hit the road in Europe at the end of the month in support of Smother with North American dates to be announced soon.

Listen To The New Wild Beasts Single "Albatross"

One of our favorite discoveries over the last few years would be Wild Beasts and their marvelous 2009 release Two Dancers. Now the British rockers are back with their follow-up Smother, set for a May 10th release, and featuring the first single "Albatross" which premiered on BBC Radio 1 last night. Thanks to the awesome that is One Thirty BPM we now have the single streaming below, a simmering psychedelic soup topped off with Hayden Thorpe and his haunting vocals that picks up right where Two Dancers left off. That is most definitely a good thing.

Currently the band only has tour dates scheduled in Europe to support the album with the promise of US dates to be announced soon. We'll let you know when we do, for now just enjoy the sneak peak.
