Bright Eyes

Foo Fighters, MMJ, Coldplay Head Lollapalooza 2011 Lineup

At midnight last night the lineup for this year's twentieth anniversary of Lollapalooza was announced. Heading up the shenanigans in Chicago's Grant Park August 5th-7th will be SHA favorites My Morning Jacket and the Foo Fighters along with Muse, Coldplay and Eminem. Add to that some Deadmau5, A Perfect Circle and Cee-Lo Green and you've got the first two lines covered. Digging further in to the well of bands we enjoy you'll find Ween, Bright Eyes, The Cars, Arctic Monkeys , Local Natives, Delta Spirit, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals and more. As always Perry Ferrell and company even have the breaking indie bands slots for Foster The People, Dale Earnhart Jr. Jr., The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Smith Westerns, Tennis, and quite a few other bands I know little or nothing about.

Of course what fun would Lollapalooza be without the mania that is Perry's. Holding down the dance front will be Girl Talk, Pretty Lights and Kid Cudi among others. Early bird tickets have already sold out but three day passes are still currently available for $215 plus the fun tax. The full lineup in alphabetical order is listed after the jump courtesy of those handsome gentleman holding down the fort over at Hidden Track.

Music Video Of The Day: Bright Eyes - Shell Games

Here is the first official video from Bright Eyes upcoming release The People's Key, which NPR is hyping like nobody's business. The album hit stores yesterday and since the band is currently on tour in Europe it makes sense that The Guardian premiered the "Shell Games" video early today. There's nothing too fancy about the video unless you happen to think the cross-fade effect is incredibly fancy, in which case this just might be your favorite video in the history of the universe. Aside from that there is a bunch of poorly synced playing that offers comfort in the fact that Bright Eyes wouldn't have made a very good Milli Vanilli. Oh, and the song is great, but you already knew that.

Stream The New Bright Eyes Album The People's Key

The first paragraph of Robin Hilton's introduction for the NPR Exclusive First Listen of Bright Eyes new album The People's Key should get any and all fans of Conor Oberst's various musical outlets extremely excited. So much so that we are just going to reprint it right here.

I won't mince words: This is the best record Bright Eyes has ever made. In fact, it's the best record the band's frontman, Conor Oberst, has ever been a part of. Publicists like to say as much any time an artist releases a new album, but in this case, it's actually true. The People's Key is a career-defining work of art.

While we can't vow for the accuracy of the above statement as we have yet to listen to the album ourselves, it certainly has our hopes up. Check out the stream below until the album is officially released February 15th.

Watch The Full Monsters Of Folk Austin City Limits Episode

We may be on the verge of a new Bright Eyes album, but that doesn't mean shows filmed a few months ago that are just now airing have forgotten about that other little thing Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis did with friends M. Ward and Yim Yames, the Monsters of Folk. It's no secret how much we love the Yim Yames around these parts so we didn't forget that the supergroup's Austin City Limits episode finally aired over the weekend, but if you did we've got it streaming here for you. The twelve song set takes up a wonderful hour of your time so get comfy.  [via twentyfourbit]
