Watch A Playlist Of (Most Of) Dawes' New Album Nothing Is Wrong

There's some great new music out already this year and there is no stopping anytime soon with the impending release of Dawes' sophomore album Nothing Is Wrong on June 7th. Caught up in the midst of new My Morning Jacket stream mania, I was hoping that maybe two weeks out meant I could find some of the California sound to preview as well. Thanks to the wonderful world of YouTube and my incredibly ability to type letters in to a search field in the proper order, you can check out live versions, most of which are nice HD acoustic numbers, of almost all of the new album above.

Unfortunately (but not really) the "Million Dollar Bill" is a really great Middle Brother version instead of just Dawes, and sadly "The Way You Laugh" doesn't seem to exist on the web in video form. For that it appears taper dmonkey over at the Archive has us covered, with a song labeled "The You Laugh" from a show this January in Reno. No word on if any men were shot just to subsequently be watched while dying during the performance.

Enjoy and pre-order and go see them live and stuff.

Stream The First Two Songs From Dawes New Album Nothing Is Wrong

It's no secret that we here at SHA have been enjoying what the brothers Goldsmith have been putting down both in their awesome debut album North Hills as well as their contributions to the greatness of the self-titled Middle Brother debut. Finally we can start to get rid of the debut labels as the Los Angeles based four piece have recently announced their follow-up album Nothing Is Wrong. The eleven song set hits shelves June 7th but this being the internet era and all we have the first two tracks from the new album streaming below in all their California sounding glory. The new album's opener "Time Spent In Los Angeles" I found while looking for the second track "If I Wanted Someone" on Soundcloud. Of course the band had some say here too as the album announcement was met with a widget to download the latter track, which is included below.

A quick look at the tracklist below should give Dawes fans even more familiarity as "How Far We've Come" has long been in the live catalog, not to mention the appearance of the fantastic "Million Dollar Bill" which closes the previously mentioned Middle Brother album. Good times. The band has a busy summer ahead including multiple festival appearances as well as a nationwide tour with our favorite ginger singer that doesn't play a Languedoc, Brett Dennen. You can check out all the official dates at the Dawes site.

My Morning Jacket To Headline Wakarusa & Mountain Jam, Lineups Announced

Doubling up on the festival updates here as they both have the awesome common denominator of My Morning Jacket as headliners, which makes it seem like the fellas may be this year's festival whores as the big guns haven't even come out with their lineups yet. Adding to the awesome it's safe to assume that the album Jim James is co-producing with Tucker Martine should hit stores near the May estimate. Either way expect a lot of MMJ in your future.

As for the festivals let's start with Wakarusa, which will return to Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Arkansas with or without dead birds falling from the sky. Set to take place June 2-5, the 8th edition of the festival will see the likes of Ben Harper and Relentless 7, Thievery Corporation, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Umphrey's McGee, Mumford & Sons, Lotus and more.

As for Mountain Jam, which is essentially the Warren Haynes music festival, Michael Franti & Spearhead will join Lotus, The New Deal and MMJ on double dip duty, appearing at both Wakarusa and Mountain Jam. Haynes will be playing with both Gov't Mule as well as The Warren Haynes Band, not to mention the various sit ins he tends to take part in. Who might those sit ins be with? Possibly The Avett Brothers, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, North Mississippi All Stars, or the most likely choice 7 Walkers. The official lineup announcement video is below.

Tickets are on sale now at both the Wakarusa and Mountain Jam sites. Complete lineups available after the jump.

Watch Middle Brother Rock Me, Me, Me At The Invisible Children Benefit

Awesome alert. For us here at SHA headquarters the most exciting release that has been announced for 2011 so far is the self-titled debut of Middle Brother, the band formerly known as MG&V featuring the frontmen of the various awesome bands Delta Spirit, Deer Tick and Dawes. A while back the band played their first official gig as Middle Brother as part of a benefit for Invisible Children, and now thanks to Friends With Both Arms we have some video of the occasion, more specifically a rollicking version of the first single "Me, Me, Me".

If their twitter account is to believed a tour announcement will come tomorrow, but in the meantime you can preview all the tracks from the album at the Partisan Records store. Spoiler alert: it sounds fantastic. If you want to check out the studio version after falling in love with the video above, it is streaming below. Rock.

Middle Brother Detail Self-Titled Debut, Announce Benefit Show

Look at silly me, whining about no John McCauley solo shows out west only to learn he will indeed be playing a solo set out west, even better he is bringing his new (super)group with him for their first official gig as Middle Brother. Formerly known by the uber creative MG&V, the new band features McCauley along with Delta Spirit's Matthew Vasquez and Dawes' Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith. That is some seriously legit songwriting there.

As for the previously mentioned gig, that will be taking place at The Troubadour on December 20th as part of a benefit for the Invisible Children charity. Tickets are only $15 and are still available, and it's a benefit so get on it. The awesome doesn't stop there as the band have also released some details about their self-titled debut which will hit stores March 1st. Pre-orders for the twelve song set are already available at the Partisan Records store.

So you can get a taste of what to expect when Middle Brother is released here is a video of the band performing the opening track "Daydreaming". Good times. Tracklisting is available after the jump.   [via jambase]

Deer Tick's John McCauley And Ian O'Neil Announce Acoustic Shows

Well this is pretty gosh darn exciting albeit it without any love for the west coast. After releasing one of my favorite albums of the year in The Black Dirt Sessions, Deer Tick frontman John McCauley will be joined by the other guy that plays guitar and sings in his band, Ian O'Neil, for a small run of acoustic shows on the east coast in January. Adding to the awesome is the description of what will be performed: Deer Tick numbers old and new mixed in with some covers, as well as songs from McCauley's super exciting side project Middle Brother, which sees McCauley joined by fellow frontmen Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes and Matt Vasquez of Delta Spirit. That's a healthy heaping of awesome right there so the news that their songs will be making their way out in to the wild is pretty radical, now if they could just head out west.    [via grimy goods]

Outside Lands Schedule Released, One Less Stage

Earlier today Ranger Dave finally finished up the good ole Outside Lands schedule, while also adding a couple new night shows. The bad news would be the elimination of the Presidio stage which was reasonably convenient to access and never too crowded, but overall not too many conflicts. Considering they lost a day and the 4th biggest stage this year I'm not sure how bright the future is for OSL, but either way there's a lot of fun to be had in Golden Gate Park next weekend. Adding to the fun options outside of the park are the two latest night show announcements that are both set to take place at The Independent, The Devil Makes Three on Thursday night with a Chromeo DJ set taking place Sunday night.

You can check out the official schedule over at the Outside Lands site and for those that are more adventurous you can check out what we here at SHA will be dabbling in after the jump. We may or may not be sporting a Yim Yames pinata courtesy of our good friends over at Hit A Celebrity so if you see some skull boots, a flying V and a cape made of paper come on over and say hi.

Dawes Does Yours Truly With A Morning Bender

That title deserves a that's what she said but we're so above that we wouldn't possibly mention it. My latest album obsession has been North Hills by Southern California based folk-rockers Dawes. The band aptly draws comparisons to the famed Laurel Canyon sound of the likes of Crosby Stills and Nash, Carole King, and Joni Mitchell among others. More specifically they make good music that you should check out.

I mention all of this today not just to point out the fact that there is a band named Dawes that makes music that is good, but to show a couple kickass new videos posted by the jedis of awesome over at Yours Truly. The news gets even better as the quartet was joined by Chris Chu of SHA favorites The Morning Benders while they performed a couple tracks off their debut album. The first cut from Different Fur Studios is the contemplative rocker "When My Time Comes". To finish it off they slow things down a bit for a stirring rendition of "If You Let Me Be Your Anchor" that would make Ryan Adams proud.

The band has a busy schedule ahead including appearances at Outside Lands and Austin City Limits, full dates are listed after the jump.
