Death Cab For Cutie

Death Cab For Cutie Cover Fogerty's Centerfield For Opening Day

Considering that Death Cab For Cutie formed in Bellingham, WA, it makes sense the group would root for the hometown Seattle Mariners.  Yesterday they took their apparent fandom a step further as they performed at the Mariners home opener against the Oakland A's.  Instead of going with the hits, Ben Gibbard and company catered to the audience and busted out a couple of baseball numbers.  After the slightly boring Take Me Out To The Ballgame opener, they immediately busted into the John Fogerty classic Centerfield.

As of this moment there is only this crappy video recording of the televised broadcast, but you will still get the jist.  Unfortunately the Mariners lost the game 4-0 so it would appear that Death Cab didn't bring any good luck with them.   [via twentyfourbit]

Death Cab For Vampires, Meet Me On The Equinox

Apparently the soundtrack to Twilight: New Moon might be exciting if you like music from the likes of Thom Yorke, or Bon Iver.  Aside from those heavy hitters, the first single comes from Death Cab For Cutie.  The song  Meet Me On The Equinox , was written specifically for the film,

The creepiness that is the idea of an abstinence vampire franchise for little girls turning out a possibly awesome soundtrack album is really too much for me to deal with at times.  Luckily it is football season so the testosterone is flowing.  I'm so happy this didn't happen around Valentine's Day.

And if you really want to be creeped out, check out the pre-order site and how you can by a poster, shirt, and the album for $500.  Oh you crazy abstinent vampire loving youths, what will you think of next?
