Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters, MMJ, Coldplay Head Lollapalooza 2011 Lineup

At midnight last night the lineup for this year's twentieth anniversary of Lollapalooza was announced. Heading up the shenanigans in Chicago's Grant Park August 5th-7th will be SHA favorites My Morning Jacket and the Foo Fighters along with Muse, Coldplay and Eminem. Add to that some Deadmau5, A Perfect Circle and Cee-Lo Green and you've got the first two lines covered. Digging further in to the well of bands we enjoy you'll find Ween, Bright Eyes, The Cars, Arctic Monkeys , Local Natives, Delta Spirit, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals and more. As always Perry Ferrell and company even have the breaking indie bands slots for Foster The People, Dale Earnhart Jr. Jr., The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Smith Westerns, Tennis, and quite a few other bands I know little or nothing about.

Of course what fun would Lollapalooza be without the mania that is Perry's. Holding down the dance front will be Girl Talk, Pretty Lights and Kid Cudi among others. Early bird tickets have already sold out but three day passes are still currently available for $215 plus the fun tax. The full lineup in alphabetical order is listed after the jump courtesy of those handsome gentleman holding down the fort over at Hidden Track.

Music Video Of The Day: Foo Fighters - White Limo

Here's the first video from the Foo Fighters still untitled upcoming album. While anything but big budget, the "White Limo" video still oozes that particular strand of awesome associated with the Foo. Whether it's Lemmy as a careless drunken limo driver or Dave Grohl's amazing Cops sweatshirt, you are sure to find plenty to laugh about, albeit before the tragedy strikes as apparently the Foo will die in a limo crash in 2012. The good thing is they made a really rocking track beforehand, although I hope the album version turns up the vocals.

Also best scream faces ever. Click to enlarge, that's what she said.

Foo Fighters To Record New Album In Grohl's Garage

It's hard for me to contain my excitement when I read this much awesome at once so I'll just copy and paste to save you from my giddy ramblings.

Swigging from a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey, the Foos frontman and Them Crooked Vultures drummer, who had just introduced a performance by Best Documentary subjects Anvil, said his band will work with Butch Vig on their seventh album, in part to mark the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s Nevermind, which Vig produced in 1991. “Me and [Foos drummer] Taylor [Hawkins] have already started demoing songs,” Grohl told Rolling Stone.

But unlike the Foos’ previous two efforts, which were recorded at Studio 606 (a cutting edge recording complex/rehearsal space/party den that the band owns in Northridge, California), this forthcoming album will be recorded entirely in analog — and out of Grohl’s garage. “We’re doing a test on Monday,” he said when asked about potential noise complaints from his Encino neighbors (and the missus). Indeed, the father of two added, “I think this could be our heaviest album yet.”  [via rolling stone]

So a literal garage band album, and I don't mean the fancy Apple program.  Then a claim that it could be their heaviest yet?  Consider me Danza'd.  No release date has been set but the awesome continues as the band will also be releasing a documentary with the album that will cover the Foo Fighters sixteen year history as well as the recording of the new record.

And just in case you forgot how awesome Grohl is I'll paste the end of the article.  He was at the Spirit awards to announce the Anvil performance where he went off-script and told everyone in the room how awesome the Anvil documentary is and how it made him cry.

Nervous that his ad-libbing didn’t come out as well as he’d hoped, afterwards, Grohl clutched his bottle like a security blanket, while waiting for his wife Jordyn to peruse the tent-adjacent Elle Lounge. “If I stay another minute, I’m gonna get so fucking drunk, I’ll barf all over myself,” he cracked.

Dave Grohl, you complete me.   [via consequence of sound]

New Foo Fighters Track Word Forward

With all of the Them Crooked Vultures news going around it's easy to forget about Dave Grohl's other project, that one where he's not behind the drums.  Next Tuesday, November 3rd, the Foo Fighters will be releasing their [amazon B002OFWG7E] album, which will also feature two new originals.  The first of the new tunes, Wheels, was debuted live at the White House and already has an official video, and now we have some (it ends prematurely) of the second new track, Word Forward.  via

New Foo Fighters Song Wheels Debuted At The White House

The Foo Fighters have been on a little break but when you are invited to play a 4th of July party at The White House it is really hard to turn down. Believe me, I would know. The video is a new song called Wheels that the Foo debuted during their performance for the President of The United States, who was seen Keeping It Cool throughout the festivities. Extra super fun side note:

Grohl himself has a new project too: He’s teaming up with former collaborators Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). The still-unnamed band’s existence isn’t new (Grohl has been discussing the project since 2005), but they are currently recording an album in Los Angeles.

Foo Fighters + Top Chef = Super Hella Awesome

Top Chef might be the best show on television. The Foo Fighters are one of the funnest bands around. Wednesday night television will feature the two of them together with the Top Chef contestants cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the Foo. The show airs at 10 pm Wednesday nights on Bravo, and repeats quite often.

Here is a clip of Dave on the night of the show telling the audience about it.
