Treasure Island Music Festival's 2010 Lineup Is Here!

The lineup for the fourth Treasure Island Music Festival has just been announced and it's indie-tastic. Set to take place Oct 16th and 17th, this year's good times will be headlined by LCD Soundsystem, Belle & Sebastian, The National, Broken Social Scene, and Deadmau5.  My favorite part of the lineup, aside from some of the big guns already mentioned, would have to be Parisian rockers Jamaica, who you may remember kicked off that whole Music Video of the Day thing here at SHA with their mock bio video for "I Think I Like U2".

Tickets for the festival will go on sale tomorrow July 13th at 10am PST. Early bird two day tickets are avaiable for just $99 so you should clearly strike while the iron's hot as single day tickets are $67.50 each. Although I feel I should warn you that there are rumors of Phish possibly rocking Las Vegas that same weekend so you may want to tread lightly if that would possibly create a conflict for you.

Head to the official site for more info. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster right here.

Bonnaroo Announces Late Nights, Jay-Z, LCD, Daryl Hall & Chromeo

Bonnaroo has just announced the acts that will be partaking in the late night mania at this year's festival.  The list of just the late night acts would be one of the best festival lineups in the country, just incredibly awesome. My first thought is no matter what you can't miss the Daryl Hall & Chromeo late night regardless of who it is up against, and yes, I'm including Jay-Z in that statement.  Then I start thinking about the absolute mania that will be late night Gwar and I wonder if that is actually the number one can't miss set. Then a car drives outside my window blasting I Can't Go For That and I am back at Hall & Chromeo.

Whatever you lucky kids attending this year's festival choose as your late night destination, you are definitely going to be missing some awesome somewhere else.  A good problem to have for sure. The complete list of those that will be doing late night sets at this year's Bonnaroo are listed below.

  • Jay-Z
  • The Flaming Lips performing Dark Side of the Moon featuring Stardeath and White Dwarfs
  • LCD Soundsystem
  • Thievery Corporation
  • Galactic
  • The Black Keys
  • Deadmau5
  • Daryl Hall & Chromeo
  • Clutch
  • Bassnectar
  • Kid Cudi
  • GWAR
  • The Disco Biscuits
  • Dan Deacon Ensemble
  • B.O.B.

Creepy Panda Costumes Harass LCD Soundsystem For Drunk Girls Video

Usually it's not that difficult to make a music video, at least from the artist's perspective.  They show up at some soundstage and people tell them what to do.  LCD Soundsystem doesn't really do anything normal so it should come as no surprise it didn't go as smoothly for James Murphy and company.  In this brand new video for Drunk Girls off of the group's awesome new album This Is Happening, the band are continually harrassed by a group of people wearing some very cheap panda bear costumes.

Rumor has it, via the tags used for the official youtube post, that this wonderful collection of chaos may have been directed by jedi ninja Spike Jonze.  For the record this is what I think a Scientology party is like, without the fun soundtrack.   [via pitchfork]

LCD Soundsystem Fights Leak With Their Own Stream

Even though LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy begged people to keep their new record to themselves, it looks like people just wanted to share the awesome too bad as the album leaked the next morning.  Not one to sit idly by and let the internet claim ownership, This Is Happening is now streaming in full on the LCD website more than a month before the actual May 18th release.

All that's missing from this perfect storm of awesome is for the band to simply put the album up for sale as well, instead of a straight stream.  It's borderline cruel and unusual punishment to expect rabid fans to wait a full month to get a digital copy when it's just out there. Hell, now it's even taunting them from the band's website.  This is the future, I hope.  Flexible release dates, digital first.  Physical release dates can stand pat for people that actually want that stuff.

/Rant.   Head over to the LCD site to check out the album.  I've listened to the opener 20 times in a row already and am doing my best to dance myself clean.  Good stuff.

LCD Soundsystem's New Album Gets A Title And A Cover

What you are looking at here is indeed the new album art for the newest, and possibly last, LCD Soundsystem record.  The album, titled This is Happening, is set for a May 18th release.  Just last week we got our first taste of the new album in the party anthem Drunk Girls.  You can check that out below if you missed it the first time.

There's also this nice little video of James Murphy and company doing some recording in LA courtesy of DFA.  Well, at the very least there are recording devices that you can see.  And laundry.   [via pitchfork]

New LCD Soundsystem Doesn't Really Dig Drunk Girls

The details for the upcoming LCD Soundsystem album have been few and far between aside from frontman James Murphy claiming it would be the band's last.  Luckily the internet sprung a leak yesterday and out came the second track off the new album, Drunk Girls.  The tune fits in nicely with the rest of the LCD catalog and features some nice insight into the behaviors of both drunk girls and drunk boys.  The full LP is set for a May 18th release but you can start your sampling below.

Also drunk girls wait an hour to pee.   [via consequence of sound]
