Soundgarden Has A Really Great Goal For 2011, A New Record

Well then, the awesome is on serious overload this week. Looks like Radiohead has some company in the new album announcement world, as the rock institution known as Soundgarden added a ridiculously awesome new post to their official site a little over an hour ago explaining their current ambitions.

Our goal for 2011 - Let's Make A Record

Over the past few months, we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together - exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon. Thank you for all of the support!

Loudest of Love,

Ben, Chris , Kim and Matt

Well clearly this is one of those cases where it's good to have goals. Let's just make sure this thing is heavy on the rock okay? Just kidding, this is Soundgarden we are talking about, the rocking need not be questioned.

Also "Loudest of love".   [via antiquiet by way of @fernandodante]

Soundgarden Bring Black Rain And Hunted Down To Conan

A day after Conan mocked himself by performing with the band, something he swore he would never do after seeing the legendary Alan Thicke do so on his own talk show, King Ginger left the rocking to the professionals as Soundgarden performed their comeback single "Black Rain". Staying hip with the times the Conan show is apparently going to do the web exclusive stuff as well, which is good news for us simpletons out here in internet land as that usually means we get more awesome tunes. Thankfully that is indeed the case here as the Seattle based rockers dusted off their first ever single "Hunted Down". Now if someone could just get them to do one of those official tour things.

Stream The First Soundgarden Concert In 13 Years

Soundgarden played a not all that secret show on Friday in Seattle that marked the band's first official performance since 1997.  To be coy the band went by the anagram of Nudedragons, which kind of sucks as I was thinking of starting a side project based specifically on nude dragons.  Luckily for you this version of Nudedragons kicks a lot more ass than mine would.  The band reportedly sounded great as they busted out a 15 song set followed by a three song encore that saw the night come to an end as Chris Cornell and company covered The Doors' Waiting For The Sun.

Wait, it gets better.  Some awesome youtube afficianado uploaded the audio from the whole show, and I made you a fancy playlist of all his hard work.  I guess that means that I'm the real hero here, toldja mom.  You can check out the rocking playlist below, and of course the official setlist.   [via blabbermouth]

According to former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell's twitter:

The 12 year break is over & school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again! www.soundgardenworld.com

Pre 2010 I would chalk that up to a possible imposter or hacked post, but to be fair I am pretty sure that is as good of a confirmation we can get these days, with it being 2010 and all.  We will keep you updated but for now a nice reminder of the little band known as Soundgarden doing Black Hole Sun live in Virginia back in 96, I'm a sucker for bad VHS quality.
