Coachella 2011 Lineup Is Here!

Time to kick your hipster into overdrive as the official lineup for this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festial is here. Somehow the hipster ointment known as Kings Of Leon are headlining Friday night so maybe this year will feature a few less people wearing Converse than normal. Joining in on the large font on the poster are Saturday night's headliner Arcade Fire, and closing things out in an extremely self-absorbed way will be Kanye West on Sunday night, apparently with a little help from The Strokes as they too stuffed armadillos in their font trousers.

Yeah, so that's a pretty messy set of headliners, featuring two that make me physically ill. As per usual the undercard is where it's at featuring SHA favorites The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, The Morning Benders, Chromeo, Delta Spirit, The National, Animal Collective, Tame Impala, Broken Social Scene and more. To be fair there's a bit of something for everyone although the lineup as a whole is giving me a really hollow feeling, granted that's usually the case with Coachella. What do you think about this year's lineup?

Watch The National & Band Of Horses On Austin City Limits

Over the weekend a pretty kickass episode of Austin City Limits aired featuring a double dose of SHA favorites in The National and Band Of Horses, the former in support of High Violet and the latter for Infinite Arms. There's nothing really exceptional here aside from what has become the standard great performances by the two, which is to say it is still really awesome. Let the brooding commence below with the "full episode" then follow this link for the rest of the performance when it say's you can't watch anymore.

Music Video Of The Day: The National - Terrible Love (Alternate Version)

Here is the second video from hipster megastars The National's really great album High Violet. The Tom Berninger directed video is actually for the alternate version of "Terrible Love" and gives off a pretty strong stars-are-just-like-us vibe that would make US Weekly jealous. Not only do we see frontman Matt Berninger taking part in the common man's patented air hump, but we also see the entire group getting frisked by security. The National try on racoon hats, use escalators, get all existential on a banana and practice karate chops in the mirror just like us. As for their bowling careers? Thankfully there are sold out shows and critically acclaimed albums to fall back on.   [via pitchfork]

Treasure Island Music Festival's 2010 Lineup Is Here!

The lineup for the fourth Treasure Island Music Festival has just been announced and it's indie-tastic. Set to take place Oct 16th and 17th, this year's good times will be headlined by LCD Soundsystem, Belle & Sebastian, The National, Broken Social Scene, and Deadmau5.  My favorite part of the lineup, aside from some of the big guns already mentioned, would have to be Parisian rockers Jamaica, who you may remember kicked off that whole Music Video of the Day thing here at SHA with their mock bio video for "I Think I Like U2".

Tickets for the festival will go on sale tomorrow July 13th at 10am PST. Early bird two day tickets are avaiable for just $99 so you should clearly strike while the iron's hot as single day tickets are $67.50 each. Although I feel I should warn you that there are rumors of Phish possibly rocking Las Vegas that same weekend so you may want to tread lightly if that would possibly create a conflict for you.

Head to the official site for more info. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster right here.

Austin City Limits Gets Some Phish, Eagles, Strokes, Vampires

The lineup for this year's Austin City Limits was just released and to call it awesome would be a disservice as it definitely deserves some more fancy adjectives or adverbs. Headliners will include The Eagles, Muse, and Phish, who will make their first appearance in Texas since 2000 with a Friday night headlining performance (one two hour set). Other major acts include The Strokes, Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem, Spoon, The Flaming Lips, Norah Jones and  M.I.A. The awesome doesn't stop there as SHA favorites The National, Band Of Horses, Beach House, Local Natives, The Black Keys, Broken Bells, and The Morning Benders are also going to be rocking Zilker Park from October 8th-10th.

Three day tickets have long been sold out but single day tickets go on sale Tuesday, May 18th, at 10am Central Time.  For complete festival information head on over to the official website. The complete daily lineup is listed after the jump.  Rock.

Update: Added the boring lineup announcement video for those that care. It's definitely worth skipping.

The National Are Afraid Of Everyone But Sufjan Stevens On Letterman

The National certainly don't seem to be skimping on their promotional duties. Just a couple days after releasing their insanely great new album High Violet, and the subsequent Berninger heavy music video for Bloodbuzz Ohio, the band made a pit stop over at The Late Show with David Letterman where they performed the track Afraid Of Everyone. Always ones for authenticity, the band brought their friend Sufjan Stevens along to replicate his backup vocals from the album version. The tune itself is another nice brooding song that builds into a frenetic climax, or as other people call it "every National song ever".   [via the audio perv]

The National Bloodbuzz Ohio Video Has A Lot Of Frontman

Today marks the official release of The National's latest album High Violet, granted it feels like it's been out forever already. To mark the occasion the band have released an extremely Matt Berninger centric video for the track Bloodbuzz Ohio.  I enjoy the fact that The National want their videos to look ridiculously pretty, with the latest example being this entirely black and white video that was directed by Hope Hall, Andreas Burgess, and Berninger's wife Carin Besser, which might help to explain the frontman's prominence in the video. Well that or the killer subtle dance moves.

If you haven't already you can buy the album now.  Also how great is this song?   [via stereogum]

The National Rock Terrible Love In An Abandoned Castle

I don't think this footage of The National is meant to serve as any sort of official video or anything but it should borderline be entered in short film contests because it really is just beautiful. The video is part of a new special presentation being done by Pitchfork.tv featuring the Brooklyn based band playing some tunes off their awesome new album High Violet in an abandoned castle overlooking the Hudson River. In fact this same castle was used in Gus Van Sant's painfully dull Last Days.

Anyhoo, the special presentation is being billed as a multi-part series so it only makes sense that they kick off the awesome with Terrible Love, the opening track on the new album. The video was directed by Pitchfork.tv's own RJ Bentler, with mixing and engineering from David Tolomei and cinematography by Ray Concepcion. I felt that was worth mentioning considering the high quality product in front of you.

We'll definitely be posting the other parts to this special presentation as they are made available, especially if they are all this awesome. High Violet will be released May 11th.

Stream The National's Awesome New Album High Violet

If you are at all like any of the hipsters I read on music blogs all the time, you are eagerly awaiting the May 11th release of High Violet, the latest record from The National.  We've already given you a good sampling of what you can expect, but the New York Times has that beat as they are now streaming the album in its entirety at their website along with a pretty kickass article about the album.  I tried to steal the stream and post it here for you guys but I can't really figure it out right now and my mind is buzzing with NFL draft possibilities so you'll just have to head here to listen. Believe me, it's well worth the effort it takes to click.
