Thom Yorke Announces Atoms For Peace Tour

We already mentioned Thom Yorke's new side project was going to make an appearance at this year's Coachella festival, but at the time it appeared to just be a one and done type thing.  Fret not young Radioheaders, even for those that don't feel like heading out to the deseret to get their indie hipster on should find some comfort in the newly announced Atoms For Peace tour.  Via Thom

hey everyone

ok so in April the other band.. that i got together to do the eraser and other stuff u know .. Mauro, Flea, Me, Joey and Nigel is going back out to do some shows in the US.. ending with playing with Coachella. we had too much fun to just leave it there...

it has been decided that we call ourselves Atoms For Peace. hope you like the name.. it seemed bleedin' obvious.

these are the shows & Flying Lotus is opening for us -

Coachella 2010 Lineup Is Here!

The 2010 version of your favorite non-Halloween music festival in Indio, CA was announced today.  As per usual it looks pretty damn awesome.  In fact Friday happens to feature bands that made 4 of my favorite albums of 2009, Them Crooked Vultures, Grizzly Bear, Passion Pit, and The Avett Brothers.  Lots of fun for everyone, although aside from Muse I could do with some different headliners.  No offense to the Jay-Z contingent but he doesn't really get me as excited as last year's Friday headliner, Sir Paul McCartney.

This year sees the festival add car camping as well as ins and out privileges.  Hooray partying in your campsite for cheap!  Go America!

Tickets for the festival go on sale Friday, January 22 at 10:00 AM. Three-day weekend passes are $269.00, plus fees and such.  More details on layaway, camping options and up-to-the minute information, can be found at www.coachella.com.  If you like seeing things in list form and the poster isn't doing it for you, the day by day artist schedule is after the jump.

Thom Yorke And Damien Rice Soundtrack For Tibet

Thom Yorke has had a busy year sans Radiohead with his newly formed band as well as some solo releases and an appareance on the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack.  Apparently he liked that last gig as he will be teaming up with Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice and composer Phillip Glass for an original soundtrack to the documentary When The Dragon Swallowed The Sun.

When The Dragon Swallowed The Sun explores the struggle of a young Tibetan king who is expected to continue a 1400 year old lineage.  It reveals for the first time how he, alongside the peers of his generation, tries to reflect on his history while being forced to redefine his identity in this new world of shifting politics and changing religious devotion.

According to the presumed internet version of director Dirk Simon, in response to a post at awesome music blog Consequence of Sound, the film will be making its world premiere at the Santa Barbara Film Fest Feb 4-14, 2010.  Check out the trailer for the documentary and more at the official site.

Thom Yorke's The Hollow Earth

Here is the video for the new original The Hollow Earth from Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke.  The song was released this week as part of a 12" single that also features the song Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses.  If you are interested in the hard stuff, you can order the single over at the Radiohead Store.  You can also check out the recently released All For The Best video from Thom Yorke for his work on the Mark Mulcahy tribute album.

And hear is a stream of the other track, without fanciful video.

Thom Yorke Debuts New Song The Present Tense

Here is a new song that Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke debuted during his solo performance at the Latitude Festival this weekend. Not sure if this is a Thom solo song or a Radiohead tune, but I'd venture a guess that it is one of the two. Anyone else think he's trying to look a bit too much like Keith Urban? Me too. What did you think of the tune?
