Music Video Of The Day: Foo Fighters - White Limo

Here's the first video from the Foo Fighters still untitled upcoming album. While anything but big budget, the "White Limo" video still oozes that particular strand of awesome associated with the Foo. Whether it's Lemmy as a careless drunken limo driver or Dave Grohl's amazing Cops sweatshirt, you are sure to find plenty to laugh about, albeit before the tragedy strikes as apparently the Foo will die in a limo crash in 2012. The good thing is they made a really rocking track beforehand, although I hope the album version turns up the vocals.

Also best scream faces ever. Click to enlarge, that's what she said.

Radiohead Again Rewrite The Rules With The King Of Limbs

We here at SHA actually avoid posting most Radiohead related news as it tends to mostly be of the rumor and conjecture variety as opposed to actual news and anything involving Radiohead gets so many hearts a flutter that it sort of feels like a demented form of torture in a way. But today is not like every other day, today is a day with really awesome super legit for serious news. Radiohead is releasing a new album and it's coming out this Saturday.

Never ones to shrink from their responsibility as one of the most ground breaking acts in the world, the band who famously sold their last album In Rainbows for whatever amount you wanted to pay, have announced the details for their latest album titled The King Of Limbs a mere five days before the album's release. You want to stop leaks? There's your answer, not to mention something we suggested months ago: Digital copies almost immediately after the record is done with hard copies at a later date. The later date in question will be May 9th and will consist of the fancy sounding Newspaper Album.

Radiohead's new record, The King Of Limbs, is presented here as the world's first* Newspaper Album, comprising:

  • Two clear 10" vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve.
  • A compact disc.
  • Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.
  • The Newspaper Album comes with a digital download that is compatible with all good digital media players.
  • The Newspaper Album will be shipped on Monday 9th May 2011 you can, however, enjoy the download on Saturday 19th February 2011.
  • Shipping is included in the prices shown.
  • One lucky owner of the digital version of The King Of Limbs, purchased from this website, will receive a signed 2 track 12" vinyl.

*perhaps

Well then, this is awesome. Really really awesome. For those awaiting the Bonnaroo announcement tomorrow things may have just gotten a bit more exciting as clearly you can at least convince yourself this somehow means Thom Yorke and company will be on the farm. Here's to hoping. For more details and to pre-order the new album for $9 head on over to The King Of Limbs site.

Also thank you Radiohead for being so awesome.

Watch The Decemberists Visit Morning Becomes Eclectic

Colin Meloy and the rest of The Decemberists appeared on this morning's episode of KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic a few days before the sold out show at The Wiltern. The band plowed through quite a bit of their latest release, the awesome The King Is Dead, as well as a few older numbers. Suffice to say it all sounds great. While there are quite a few dates left on their current tour, that didn't stop the group from releasing a whole new slew of dates which also feature appearances at Sasquatch and Jazz Fest. For complete details head over to the official Decemberists site.

The New Pornographers Music Video/Biopic Moves Needs To Happen

There's a lot to like about The New Pornographers' new music video for "Moves" off of their 2010 release Together, whether it's seeing Ted Leo dressed in drag, the anti-Canadian rally or fake AC Newman's recruitment note. Directed by Tom Scharpling the video acts more as a trailer for a fake movie about the band's rise to glory and subsequent rise after that, even with Horatio Sanz doing mountains of cocaine. With all that awesome it's hard to believe that a five second preview from another fake movie at the beginning still might steal all of "Moves" thunder. Not so much so if you had read the amazing synopsis for Expectant Dads prior.

Nick (Paul Rudd) and D-Bomb (Bill Hader) are two carefree and crazy guys trying to make their mark in the highly competitive world of extreme coin collecting, otherwise known as “X-Coining”. They’ve been at it for years without a lot of success, and they’re both at the end of their respective ropes – D-Bomb’s wife (Melissa Joan Hart) is going to throw him out of the house if he doesn’t get a serious job by New Year’s Day, and Nick’s father Big Nick (Danny Aiello) is going to cut him out of the family’s inheritance from selling their toilet seat factory.

But the two dudes bite off way more than they can chew when they battle with two rival X-Coiners (Andy Milonakis and Robert Blake, Jr.) who trick Nick and D-Bomb into ingesting a chemical (distributed by way of a pot vaporizer called “King Vidor Vapor”) that makes them both pregnant. And if that wasn’t enough, the boys are under the impression that they were impregnated by a pair of weightlifters during a pre-match oil session!

So Nick and D-Bomb set off to Sin City to catch up with the men they believe to be the fathers of their children, coming across all kinds of ridiculous adventures along the way! EXPECTANT DADS is anything but the expected, but you can expect all kinds of laughs and thrills during this exciting 160 minute thrill ride!

Expectant Dads clearly sounds like the best movie ever right? Cast Tony Danza as twin brothers that are the respective fathers and I think we are talking Oscar, a Golden Globe nomination at the very least. Good times.

Also 160 minute thrill ride!

Fleet Foxes Announce New Album Helplessness Blues, Share Title Track

When one delivers a promise on Twitter of a "big announcement tomorrow", they best follow up for fear of the attack of a million internet literalists. Thankfully Robin Pecknold and his Fleet Foxes bandmates paid attention during Internet 101 as this morning brings news of the band's eagerly anticpated new album. Helplessness Blues, the follow-up to their 2008 self-titled release, will hit stores May 3rd which happens to be in the midst of the band's international tour in support of the album. Limited presale tickets will be available at the band's official site starting tomorrow, February 1st at 9am PST. Dates are listed below.

Stream The New Bright Eyes Album The People's Key

The first paragraph of Robin Hilton's introduction for the NPR Exclusive First Listen of Bright Eyes new album The People's Key should get any and all fans of Conor Oberst's various musical outlets extremely excited. So much so that we are just going to reprint it right here.

I won't mince words: This is the best record Bright Eyes has ever made. In fact, it's the best record the band's frontman, Conor Oberst, has ever been a part of. Publicists like to say as much any time an artist releases a new album, but in this case, it's actually true. The People's Key is a career-defining work of art.

While we can't vow for the accuracy of the above statement as we have yet to listen to the album ourselves, it certainly has our hopes up. Check out the stream below until the album is officially released February 15th.

Watch A Stellar Iron & Wine Set For Morning Becomes Eclectic

With the release of Iron & Wine's latest collection of music on Tuesday, the fantastic Kiss Each Other Clean, Sam Beam is officially on the publicity rounds. Following a two night stand at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, the bearded troubadour brought his current backing band to Village Studios complete with horns for a set on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. As expected the results are really fantastic, and damn if that Sam Beam doesn't just seem like the jolliest man this side of the North Pole.

Coachella 2011 Lineup Is Here!

Time to kick your hipster into overdrive as the official lineup for this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festial is here. Somehow the hipster ointment known as Kings Of Leon are headlining Friday night so maybe this year will feature a few less people wearing Converse than normal. Joining in on the large font on the poster are Saturday night's headliner Arcade Fire, and closing things out in an extremely self-absorbed way will be Kanye West on Sunday night, apparently with a little help from The Strokes as they too stuffed armadillos in their font trousers.

Yeah, so that's a pretty messy set of headliners, featuring two that make me physically ill. As per usual the undercard is where it's at featuring SHA favorites The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, The Morning Benders, Chromeo, Delta Spirit, The National, Animal Collective, Tame Impala, Broken Social Scene and more. To be fair there's a bit of something for everyone although the lineup as a whole is giving me a really hollow feeling, granted that's usually the case with Coachella. What do you think about this year's lineup?

Watch The National & Band Of Horses On Austin City Limits

Over the weekend a pretty kickass episode of Austin City Limits aired featuring a double dose of SHA favorites in The National and Band Of Horses, the former in support of High Violet and the latter for Infinite Arms. There's nothing really exceptional here aside from what has become the standard great performances by the two, which is to say it is still really awesome. Let the brooding commence below with the "full episode" then follow this link for the rest of the performance when it say's you can't watch anymore.

Mike Gordon Announces March Tour Dates

Not to be outdone by his Phish bandmate Trey Anastasio, our favorite purple pants wearing bassist Mike Gordon just announced an eighteen date cross-country tour this coming March in support of his most recent release Moss. Interestingly enough Cactus will start his tour on the west coast the same day Trey is rocking San Francisco to close out his tour. Happy times for the west coast.

As per usual Mike will be joined by Scott Murawski on guitar, Craig Myers on percussion, Tom Cleary on keyboards and Brooklyn drummer Todd Isler. While you're not just going to see random dudes jamming along onstage, it looks to be a magical affair. Get it, because there's magic in the video.
