Bonnaroo Announces Late Nights, Jay-Z, LCD, Daryl Hall & Chromeo

Bonnaroo has just announced the acts that will be partaking in the late night mania at this year's festival.  The list of just the late night acts would be one of the best festival lineups in the country, just incredibly awesome. My first thought is no matter what you can't miss the Daryl Hall & Chromeo late night regardless of who it is up against, and yes, I'm including Jay-Z in that statement.  Then I start thinking about the absolute mania that will be late night Gwar and I wonder if that is actually the number one can't miss set. Then a car drives outside my window blasting I Can't Go For That and I am back at Hall & Chromeo.

Whatever you lucky kids attending this year's festival choose as your late night destination, you are definitely going to be missing some awesome somewhere else.  A good problem to have for sure. The complete list of those that will be doing late night sets at this year's Bonnaroo are listed below.

  • Jay-Z
  • The Flaming Lips performing Dark Side of the Moon featuring Stardeath and White Dwarfs
  • LCD Soundsystem
  • Thievery Corporation
  • Galactic
  • The Black Keys
  • Deadmau5
  • Daryl Hall & Chromeo
  • Clutch
  • Bassnectar
  • Kid Cudi
  • GWAR
  • The Disco Biscuits
  • Dan Deacon Ensemble
  • B.O.B.

Bonnaroo Announces Comedy Lineup, Coco And Aziz Ansari

I know I just made mention of Conan O'Brien's tour including a stop at Bonnaroo, but I figured I might as well fill you in on the rest as well.  Along with a regular performance O'Brien will also be the MC for the What Stage on Friday and Saturday.  Joining Team Coco in the comedy tent this year will be the incredibly awesome Aziz Ansari, Doug Benson, as well as Jeffrey Ross roasting Bonnaroo.  While I wasn't officially given the spot I requested for this year, I may or may not be telling jokes by the fountain everyday.  I'll be the one wearing the Jay Leno outfit.  Bam!

The full comedy lineup is below. Tickets for the festival are still available at the Bonnaroo website.

Conan O’Brien
Margaret Cho
Aziz Ansari
Jeffrey Ross Roasts Bonnaroo
Greg Giraldo

Bonnaroo Adds Ween, Umphrey's, Galactic And More

As with any announcement there were a lot of people complaining about this year's initial Bonnaroo lineup.  Many felt the festival was betraying its jam roots.  Well the first round of artist additions should silence the critics a bit.  And .....................  Ween! It's gonna get brown.

There will be more additions as we get closer to the festival and we'll keep you updated.  Tickets and other details are still available at Bonnaroo.com

  • Ween
  • Galactic
  • Umphrey's McGee
  • John Butler Trio

Bonnaroo 2010 Lineup Is Here

Yesterday Bonnaroo had a day long event where they announced this year's initial lineup act by act in six minute intervals.  To say it was a painfully slow day would be quite accurate; however, thanks to the awesome work by Alex Young and the rest of the team over at Consequence of Sound we had a pretty good idea of the lineup before Bonnaroo even started playing its own game.

Not too many surprises and in this humble narrator's opinion a somewhat lackluster lineup comparatively speaking, but additions forthcoming.  The acts I am most excited about would be Mr Stevie Wonder, The Dead Weather, Phoenix, The National, The Black Keys, Dr Dog, Lotus, Jeff Beck, and last but not least the unbelievably great collaboration of Darryl Hall and Chromeo.  Without further ado your initial 2010 Bonnaroo lineup.

Tickets are currently on sale including payment plan options, VIP, RVs and all that fun festival goodiness over at the Bonnaroo website.  Thoughts?  Comments?  Who do you want to see added to this year's Bonnaroo festivities?

Bonnaroo Announces 2010 Dates

The official announcement for this year's Bonnaroo was done by this fancy little video/song that seems to be the standard now.   The festival will be held June 10-13 and Bonnaroo will be offering a payment plan like they did last year.  Tickets go on sale Nov 27 and you can look for a newly updated Bonnaroo.com before then.

In other festival video announcement news you can look for a live stream of the initial announcement for next year's Gathering Of The Vibes over at their official site.  This will be followed by a full live stream of tonight's Dark Star Orchestra show courtesy of iClips.  You can check out that broadcast on Facebook.

Bonnaruuuuuuuuuce! Springsteen Joins Phish To Close Festival

How amazing is that shit-eating grin on Trey's face. All time classic. Before The Boss hit the stage Trey compared the sit-in to being like his first concert experience. The smile on his face would suggest he really meant it. Springsteen sat in on guitar and vocals for a cover of Mustang Sally, and then two Springsteen originals, Bobby Jean and Glory Days, and with that the 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival has come and gone. All the various reports I have read seem to indicate another highly successful festival. Here are some video snippets of the Boss with Phish, enjoy. I'll post some updated better quality vids when they are available.

Bonnaroo Looks Pretty Damn Awesome

Here is the rather awesome video that was made to announce the initial lineup for Bonnaroo. According to the press release this will be Springsteen and Phish's only American Festival appearances this summer which would mean no Rothbury or Outside Lands for the Phish, which had been rumored, although at this point what hasn't been rumored. Also included in the press release is that Phish will be playing two shows, your standard two set headlining show and a special late night set. Consider me excited. Tickets go on sale this Saturday over at www.bonnaroo.com. Here is the full initial artist announcement. In total there will be 120 bands and 20 comedians, which leaves us with about 45 open music spots. I'm hoping for some Chromeo, Dr Dog, My Morning Jacket,The Duo and Umphrey's. Who or what would you like to see added to this already pretty awesome lineup?

Bonnaroo 365 Without The Humidity

Bonnaroo seems to be pushing the festival idea up a few notches this year. Being the only festival with a truly established "online community", Bonnaroo has now announced Bonnaroo 365. The idea behind Bonnaroo 365 is pretty simple: Stream all this amazing footage and audio we have from past Bonnaroos 365 days a year instead of only during the festival. Wow, a good idea, that's rare. To start things off they have this year's set by the Raconteurs, who this site has made mention of several times as absolutely can't miss performers. Here's your chance all you lazy awesomers

The first installment of the program begins on January 11th, 2009 with The Raconteurs, whose Friday afternoon set was a highlight of the 2008 event. Hot on the heels of their grammy nominated album 'Consolers of the Lonely' (best rock album and best engineered) The Raconteurs delivered a classic Bonnaroo performance. Four of the songs from the set will be available for the first time as free audio downloads – one will be available to everyone, while the other three can be downloaded by Bonnaroo Community members only (membership sign-up is free!) The songs to be available for download are "Consoler of the Lonely," "Old Enough," "Blue Veins" and "Top Yourself." If that's not enough, the full set will be available in streaming video at Bonnaroo.com, and radio stations across the country will broadcast the entire set on Sunday, January 11th.

Obviously this would be a good way to spend your work day. I've heard the entire set, it is stellar. You can find more details at the link below. This video of the band performing Blue Veins is worth watching as Jack White loses his mind half way through.

Phish + Springsteen = My First Bonnaroo

This is just a rumor but it warrants mentioning basically because I trust Rolling Stone more than most other sites and the fact that this rumor has been appearing somewhere new everyday for the last 4 months

Bonnaroo, the East Coast’s premiere multi-day, multi-stage gathering of the vibes (held in Manchester, Tennessee from June 11th to 14th) usually doesn’t release its lineup until early February — but RollingStone.com hears from reliable sources close to Phish that the band will top the bill for two nights, restoring the fest to its jam-friendly roots.

The other rumor out there is that Bruce Springsteen will headline the final night of the festival. If we are really talking about a Bonnaroo headlined by two nights of Phish and one of the Boss, I will be a very very happy person.

Theres room in the RV, get on board.

From the Bonnaroo website

It's official! The 8th Annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival is now confirmed for June 11- 14, 2009. The four-day music and camping festival will once again be held on our beautiful, 700-acre farm in Manchester, TN, 60 miles southeast of Nashville.

We'll be announcing our spectacular 2009 line up and more in late January/early February. Stay tuned to www.bonnaroo.com and look for our email announcements for all upcoming festival information and more. We're looking forward to seeing everyone down on the farm in Manchester for yet another unforgettable Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival!

There have been a lot of rumors about the Dead and Phish possibly headlining, but I am sure that is a lot more optimistic thought than anything else. Either way it's pretty easy to talk yourself into the "it makes sense when you think about it" or the "not in a million years" categories. Personally I prefer my Phish on their own, but I'll take it anyway I can get it.
