Friday's Foreign Covers

Friday's Foreign Covers: Just The Way You Are

We're going to head on over to Spain for this week's Friday's Foreign Cover for a pretty awesome jazzed up version of Billy Joel's Just The Way You Are.   At first I thought it was a little excessive but that was just the intro. Unfortunately I stopped trying to speak spanish when I learned that saying "taco" gets food in my belly regardless of location, so I can't translate the following which explains who this is and what they are doing.

Deliciosa interpretacion del famoso Clasico por la Big Band Dukebbjazz dirigida magistramente por Kiko Berenguer

And there you have it.  Big Band Dukebbjazz doing the Billy Joel classic all the way from Spain.  Happy Friday everyone.

Friday's Foreign Covers: YMCA

For some reason I had never seen this video even though it is popular enough to have spawned hundreds of remix versions with different pop songs.   Apparently this is the original, although the dubbing seems to be a bit off.  The band in question is the Finnish band Gregorius and they are doing their best cover of the Village People classic YMCA.

Also, awesome shorts and background dancing.  Happy Friday.

Friday's Foreign Covers: Barbara Ann

Pretty awesome display here by youtuber Weiland from Santiago de Compostela Spain, who just so happens to be the "82nd most subscribed all time musicians from Spain".  Also awesome. I love how the claps get two videos to go with their prominence in the mix.  Happy Friday!

Friday's Foreign Covers: Summer Of 69

Going back to the wonderful well that is the Dr K Chaudhry catalog.  This time we have his take on the best Bryan Adams song ever, Summer of 69.  You've outdone yourself with this one Dr.  Happy Friday everybody.

Friday's Foreign Covers: Africa

Here is Japanese band Present doing their interpretation of the incredibly awesome Toto classic Africa.  If you like your Friday's Foreign Cover to include backup vocalists this is the video for you!

Friday's Foreign Covers: Silly Love Songs

I'm not sure if you guys have heard yet but there is a small rumor going around that Sir Paul McCartney may be appearing at this year's Bonnaroo.  A very exciting rumor, but just that, a rumor, as the initial lineup will not be revealed until this Tuesday February 9th.  In an effort to conjure up all the good juju possible, here is Japanese Paul McCartney and Wings tribute band called Flying Horses doing the Wings hit Silly Love Songs.  A pretty awesome version, hopefully that gets the force on our side for Tuesday's lineup announcement.

Friday's Foreign Covers: Waiting For A Star To Fall

Today's wonderful foreign cover comes from Brazilian Gabriel Zugman.  A pretty fun acoustic cover if I don't say so my damn self, would look pretty good on a Summer Slam setlist.

You may have noticed that we sort of had the Triple Lindy of SHA this week with the Boy Meets Girl hit Waiting For A Star To Fall  providing the soundrack for Kids Incorporated Monday, Tribute Tuesdays, and now Friday's Foreign Covers.  It really is quite an accomplishment, all those involved should be very proud of their contributions. I mean seriously, look at how hard that is.  That's what she said.

Friday's Foreign Covers: America

Here is a nice take on one of my favorite Simon & Garfunkel tracks, America, courtesy of youtube user onetrpony all the way from Spandau, Germany.  What's that?  You want another German cover of America?  Fine, just don't say I never did nothing for ya.  Here's German Simon and Garfunkel cover band Central Park doing their best on the classic.  Happy Friday everybody.

Friday's Foreign Covers: Let It Be

Coming straight to you from the home of vodka and funny hats, here is a Russian Newt Gingrich lookalike doing his best take on The Beatles classic Let It Be.  The most amazing thing about this video is it seems he is getting a solo performance, I would have loved to have seen the auditions.  Happy Friday everyone.

Friday's Foreign Covers: Changes

Only a week til Festival 8, I'm really overwhelmed.  To keep up the momentum here is lorenzino1's vote for the first song you will hear during next Saturday's Halloween set, Changes, the first track off David Bowie's (still living and rumored campground) album Hunky Dory.  Have a nice weekend everybody.
