Phish Announces Fall Tour, Halloween In Atlantic City

As most of you know we here at Super Hella Awesome are based on the left/best/west coast, whatever you want to call it. Thus it is with great sadness (that's masking my jealous rage) that I report to you the following Phish tour dates that are incredibly amazing if you live on the opposite side of the country. Sticking with the video announcement shtick, the band is absent save for a hitchhiking Fishman cameo as well as an accompanying faceplant to end the announcement.

In their neverending quest for greatest band on the planet, the fellas have also thrown the fans a few bones recently. In addition to the recent free release Fresh Bait: Vol 1 (available here), that features highlights from the first leg of this year's summer tour, the band has also announced that ticket buyers will be receiving free mp3 copies of the shows they attend after it happens on LivePhish. Thanks guys, you really are swell.

The lottery for these shows is currently ongoing and will end on September 3rd at 11:59 am EST so put on your lucky pants and saunter on over to Phish ticketing. And yes, for those wondering, the Halloween night show in Atlantic City will again be a three-set show will the middle set consisting of the band's musical costume where they cover an album from a different artist in its entirety so put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty, and meet me October 31st in Atlantic City.

Umphrey's McGee Announce Fall Dates, Halloween Mashup In St. Louis

Deliverers of awesome Umphrey's McGee have just announced their Halloween plans as well as a batch of early fall tour dates. There's a lot to get excited about so let's use the glorious copy and paste from the band's news update:

Umphrey’s McGee is proud to announce the 3rd Annual Monster Mash Up Halloween extravaganza October 30th and 31st at The Pageant in St. Louis, Missouri. Stay tuned for details on CID Entertainment travel packages, “Partyin’ Peeps” enhanced concert ticket packages, and more.

In true Umphrey’s Halloween tradition, we will be mixing and mashing up new combinations of tunes, and encourage all to get in the spirit of the mash up theme by dressing the part.

The Monster Mash Up shows are always a good time so it's nice to know the band seems to have officially embraced it as their Halloween gimmick. Considering Umphrey's past adventures with technology and fans, I'm pretty interested in the "'Partyin Peeps' enhanced concert ticket packages". We'll update you with that news when it comes.

The early fall dates the band announced will take them from Tennesee out west. Presale for those shows will begin on July 20th, with general onsales taking place on the 24th. Halloween ticketing will follow a week later with a July 27th presale and a general onsale on the 30th. For more information head on over to the official site.

The String Cheese Incident have just announced their last shows of 2010.  The shows will be one of the group's famed Halloween Incidents and will take place October 29th and 30th at the Hampton Coliseum.  The Disco Biscuits will open the show on the 29th, while the 30th will see a 3 set show by SCI.  These shows of course are in addition to the sold out incidents at Red Rocks from July 23-25 as well as Horning's Hideout July 29 - August 1.

Tickets for "Hulaween 2010" will go on sale through a SCI presale April 20th at 12pm EST, while the public onsale will take place that Friday April 23rd at the same time.

The Avett Brothers Three Amigos and Jefe

As I'm trying to get the site redesigned and fancied up for all you bastards out in Awesomeville I haven't really had time to update on the Halloween shenanigans that have been taking place aside from some Kiss cover.  Here are my latest obsession The Avett Brothers opening their Halloween night set at the Ryman Auditorium with a cover of the Three Amigos theme song.  Yes, I know how incredibly awesome that is.  Of course what Three Amigos cover would be complete without ridiculous costumes. via

What's that you say?  There are four of them?  Don't you worry, thats just cello player Joe Kwan.  Being that he is Asian they gave him the glorious role of Jefe.  Stacks up pretty well against the original, but to quote lots of people including Bono, ain't nothing like the real thing.

Pearl Jam Whip It

Here is video of Pearl Jam's Halloween night performance of the Devo classic Whip It, in full on Devo attire no less.  The Halloween show was the band's final show of a four night run to close the famed Philadelphia venue The Spectrum.

Below is the Halloween version of Unthought Known off their awesome new album Backspacer.  As a side note how great is the dramatic improvements in bootleg concert footage phenomenon.  I love it, 3d in like 5 years.  So great.

Umphrey's Announce Second Stew Art, Halloween Theme

I've had a lot of behind the scenes work going on lately that I will explain in a later post, but as a result I have missed a few updates from the Umphrey's McGee camp.  Over the weekend they held the first of their new Stew Art series in Milwaukee and the early reports are that it was a smashing success.  Hot on the heels comes the announcement of the second S2 event, this time taking place at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon October 24th.  From the official site

A special thanks to the fans who attended the inaugural S2 event last weekend. We couldn’t have been happier with how the event unfolded. Ideas were submitted by texting descriptive words, phrases, and pop culture references (pretty much whatever came to mind), to the Umphrey's Mozes mobile interface. The suggestions were then filtered by our sound caresser Kevin Browning, and projected on a screen for the band to digest and turn into the next phase of the jam. We varied stylistically with suggestions ranging from “afternoon bus ride in Jamaica” to “drinking pina coladas…in a hurricane.”

There was incredible interaction with the attendants and we look forward to the next S2 event, which will take place On Saturday, October 24th, at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon. Much like with our first S2, the doors will open at 3:30 with the event to start at 4:00 pm, lasting for an hour. We had so much fun on the first go around that we are going to make a little more time to hang out and take pictures with the S2 participants after the show.

Color me excited.  Tickets go on sale October 14th at 12 PST through Umphrey's ticketing, and there are only 50 so act fast.

Phish Announce Halloween Cover Album, Sorta

Adding to the insane excitement level for those that plan to attend Festival 8, Phish has just updated their site with an all too familiar elimination style Haunted Hall Of Records, complete with an invitation for Halloween evening saying to "play the last record alive".

There are 100 albums on the wall and as Hidden Track quickly noted MMW's Shack Man and Tom Petty's Damn The Torpedoes were the first two to get the figurative and literal axe.  The entire list of contenders, in alphbetical order.
