Danny McBride Signs On For L.A.P.I.

It's always fun to post awesome news on a Monday, and while this story actually broke last week, it is Monday, the news is awesome, and as Meatloaf always says, two out of three ain't bad. Take it away Variety:

Danny McBride is attached to star in Mandate Pictures' action comedy "L.A.P.I.," which will be helmed by Jody Hill.

Project marks the debut project being developed by Rough House Pictures, the newly minted Mandate-based shingle headed by Hill, McBride and David Gordon Green.

Based on a pitch from writers Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan, story details are being kept under wraps apart from McBride taking on the role of a beaten-down, hardboiled P.I.

Of course the Danny McBride and Jody Hill team are the masterminds behind everybody's favorite washed up athlete Kenny Powers of East Bound and Down fame.  Hill recently directed the underrated Observe and Report with Seth Rogen while McBride has staying busy in front of the camera.  Fresh off a nice supporting role in Jason Reitman's Oscar nominated Up In The Air, McBride is also prominently involved in something on the SHA radar, David Gordon Green's Your Highness where he will play the derelict youngest son of the king who has  "settled for a life of wizard’s weed, hard booze and easy maidens".  Now he gets to be a beaten-down private investigator?  Color me excited.
