Phish Announce Labor Day Shows In Colorado To Close Tour
The long rumored Phish shows at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado over Labor Day weekend are now official. The three night weekend stand, which will take place a little over two weeks after the last dates on their itinerary, are being billed as "the last announced by the band for the Summer and Fall", so for those needing the last bit of a fix until a hopeful New Year's run this is all you've got. Well of course there's those other two legs of tour including a wonderfully scenic west coast run, but this is where it ends.
For all the complaining Phish fans do about awkward tour routing and bias, it's worth noting the opportunities the band has presented to their fans for a weekend of Phishing. The tour is bookended by holiday weekends that feature three night stands while the band took the one major summer holiday and made it Superball IX. It's safe to assume the Labor Day weekend events won't feature ferris wheels and the like, but the Colorado dates do offer onsite camping on "the lush soccer fields adjacent to the stadium". Replace soccer with polo and you have the exact Festival 8 camping description. If it goes down that smoothly we're all in for quite a weekend.
The lottery is currently underway for the newly announced shows through Phish ticketing and will conclude at noon EST on Monday, May 23rd.
