Band Of Horses Actually Appear In New Laredo Video

It's not strange that Band Of Horses actually released a video from their latest collection of awesome Infinite Arms, but it is sort of rare that the band actually appears in said video. Maintaining the Americana vibe and the various aspects of nature so prevalent in much of their work, the "Laredo" video doesn't exactly go heavy on plot but it's nice to look at and happens to support one of my favorite tunes of the year.

Earlier this week the band added some hometown dates to their already extensive fall plans. Full North American itinerary is listed after the jump with tickets through the usual suspects.

Dawes Does Yours Truly With A Morning Bender

That title deserves a that's what she said but we're so above that we wouldn't possibly mention it. My latest album obsession has been North Hills by Southern California based folk-rockers Dawes. The band aptly draws comparisons to the famed Laurel Canyon sound of the likes of Crosby Stills and Nash, Carole King, and Joni Mitchell among others. More specifically they make good music that you should check out.

I mention all of this today not just to point out the fact that there is a band named Dawes that makes music that is good, but to show a couple kickass new videos posted by the jedis of awesome over at Yours Truly. The news gets even better as the quartet was joined by Chris Chu of SHA favorites The Morning Benders while they performed a couple tracks off their debut album. The first cut from Different Fur Studios is the contemplative rocker "When My Time Comes". To finish it off they slow things down a bit for a stirring rendition of "If You Let Me Be Your Anchor" that would make Ryan Adams proud.

The band has a busy schedule ahead including appearances at Outside Lands and Austin City Limits, full dates are listed after the jump.

Pearl Jam Release Amongst The Waves Video For The Good Of The Oceans

Pearl Jam have just posted an official video for "Against The Waves'' off of last year's incredibly awesome Backspacer. Say what you will about Eddie Vedder and the gang but their care for the world in which we live in is certainly up there with the best the music world has to offer. The latest effort sees the band using the crisis in the gulf as a way to remind everyone to help and take care of those vital resources we collectively know as oceans. The video will be available on iTunes starting July 6th, with proceeds benefiting Conservation International's Ocean Campaign.

The band has eleven things you can do to look after the ocean over at their website, which you should definitely check out. That would be a lot of copy and paste to include it all so I'm just going to hit you with the intro.

There is only one Ocean for everyone and everything.

It is a finite, precious resource under tremendous economic and environmental pressure. Look after it.

Oceans...

- Cover 70% of the earth’s surface

- Provide up to 80% of the oxygen we breathe

- Are the protein source for 1 in 4 people worldwide

- Are home to 50% of all known species on earth

In summary oceans are important. As for the video it's a fantastic mix of the topic at hand with some live Pearl Jam thrown in. The video was directed by Ryan Thomas and Brendan Canty with water cinematography provided by Daren Crawford. Unfortunately we get some Debbie Downer at the end but it makes sense all things considered. Enjoy the video below then buy it on July 6th so you can have it on your iPod when you are cleaning up the beach. Good stuff.

Yours Truly And The Morning Benders Serve Up Stitches

Some of you may remember the ridiculously awesome Yours Truly video of The Morning Benders performing "Excuses" with a ton of friends at San Francisco's Different Fur Studios. Well the fine folks over at YT just posted a second video from those sessions this time for the track "Stiches". If you're worrying about how the tune might sound without a bunch of guests have no fear, the "Echo Chamber Orchestra" is still rolling plenty deep.

Music Video Of The Day: Marco Benevento - Greenpoint

Gonna try out a new bit here and see if it sticks. A pretty simple Music Video Of The Day that just includes music with an accompanying video whether it's live, fan made, or the standard music video variety. Don't worry, we'll still post major videos as they are released, we'll save this format for things a bit more under the radar. Any ideas/suggestions please send em in.

Here's a nice little homemade video for SHA favorite Marco Benevento's "Greenpoint", the opening track from his incredibly awesome new album Between the Needles and Nightfall. If you've ever wondered what Marco looks like while brushing his teeth you're questions have been answered, and you are sorta giving me the creeps. It's also nice to see what is presumably Marco's music layer. Good times.   [via CoS]

Music Video Of The Day: Peggy Sue - Watchman

Gonna try out a new bit here and see if it sticks. A pretty simple Music Video Of The Day that just includes music with an accompanying video whether it's live, fan made, or the standard music video variety. Don't worry, we'll still post major videos as they are released, we'll save this format for things a bit more under the radar. Any ideas/suggestions please send em in.

Now that we're out of the italicized text let's get down to business. Today we will be looking at Peggy Sue, another folk rock export from the UK somewhat in the vein of Mumford And Sons filtered through Fiona Apple. The acoustic based trio consists of Katy Young and Rosa Slade weaving their vocals together while drummer Olly Bruce holds down the beat. Add some guitars, accordion, strings, and biting lyrics and you've got the Peggy Sue sound.

The stop motion heavy animation below is the first official video for the track "Watchman" off of Fossils And Other Phantoms, the band's new album which was just released in the states last week. Of course that can only mean one thing: tour dates!  Starting tonight in Washington DC, Peggy Sue will play thirteen shows in North America before heading back across the pond. Dates are available after the jump.

If you want to hear more from Peggy Sue, Fossils and Other Phantoms is currently streaming on MSN (#22 on "More Listening Parties"), or just head over to their official site.

Check Out The Trippy New Neon Indian Video For Sleep Paralysist

When we last checked in with Neon Indian it was for the release of the "Sleep Paralysist" single, and now several months later we have the official video companion. The video was done by Focus Creeps, who you may remember also did the fantastic Promises video for The Morning Benders. It's a psychedelic affair no doubt with bright colors, billowing smoke, and people levitating, but it's also pretty fancy looking, which never hurts.  Alan Palomo and his live band are currently starting up a little tour tonight leading up to their Bonnaroo performance, dates are available after the jump.   [via pitchfork]

Jamie Lidell's Telephone Video Is An Ascot And A Homemade Biscuit

Jamie Lidell has certainly been in front of the cameras quite a bit lately with some awesome recent appearances on a Take Away Show and Black Cab Sessions, not to mention a couple of music videos. Apparently he loves it as he's back with one of the more official variety, this time for the Compass tune "Telephone" which was directed by Lindsey Rome. To be fair I'm not sure how you could describe it better than the man did himself:

Exploring the libidinal economics of modern telecomms, “I Wanna Be Your Telephone” was always ripe for a tantalizing, uninhibited stream of images to accompany its naughty lyrical flow. Well, here it is! It’s a dance routine, a mini picture, an ascot, a homemade biscuit, a velvet drape, a hat, a pipe and a satin slip of a video … Relax in the knowledge that naughty is still real nice.   [via stereogum]

I absolutely love everything about "libidinal economics" and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Aside from all the videos, Lidell and his killer live show are still managing to stay busy, you can check out dates at the official site.

Christina Hendricks Trades Limbs For Fuel In New Broken Bells Video

Early today The Guardian debuted the new Broken Bells video for the track "The Ghost Inside". Unfortunately they immediately decided to make it a UK exclusive so the video was unavailable for American viewers. The interwebs will surely fix that soon but for now here is a hijacked version of the video, complete with android Christina Hendricks of Mad Men fame fueling her spaceship by paying with assorted limbs.  I love how they couldn't waste her looks so there are the random pool scenes intercut with the video. Good times.   [via pitchfork]

Mumford And Sons Go Black And White To Roll Away Your Stone

Here is the video for the latest single "Roll Away Your Stone" off of Mumford And Sons incredibly awesome album Sigh No More.  The folk rockers take the black and white route for a video the seamlessly blends a studio performance with a live performance by matching the songs energetic chorus with the crowd while handling the subdued verses in the studio. A gimmick for sure, but a nice one at that.  The fellas are in the midst of a tour that will see them at this weekend's Sasquatch festival prior to heading down the west coast before heading back across the states so they can make it to their gig at Bonnaroo. Complete tour dates are available after the jump with tickets available from the usual sources.
