Outside Lands Festival

Tenacious D Replaces Beastie Boys At Outside Lands

The "greatest band in the world", Tenacious D, will headline Sunday night August 30th at the 2nd Outside Lands Festival in picturesque Golden Gate Park. While it may not be the greatest headline replacement in some peoples eyes, I have no doubt their set will have the crowd in full on rock and roll mode, coupled with a ton of laughs, and that is a pretty good combo to end 3 days of fun in the sun.

I'm also fairly certain my butt cheeks is warm.

Outside Lands Single Day Schedule Released

San Francisco's Outside Lands Festival has released the daily schedule for this year's festivities. Single day tickets for the event go on sale this Sunday, June 21 at 10 am PST. As anyone that went to the festival last year can vouch for, public transportation was not exactly easy to come by during the event. Thankfully this year they have tried to address that.

Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival is proud to announce Bauer's Intelligent Transportation as the premier transportation provider. The Bauer's Shuttle Pass guarantees roundtrip transportation from any of six locations in San Francisco and Daly City to/from Golden Gate Park and the entrance of Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival. Attendees can add on the shuttle pass to their ticket order or purchase them separately. The 3-Day Bauer's Shuttle Pass cost $25 and for $38 the VIP 3-Day Bauer's Shuttle Pass, which gets festival go-ers to the front of the line.

So they have a specific option for cutting in line. Boy is that going to go over well. I pray they are smart enough to make the VIP bus separate or else we will be seeing some of San Francisco's famous angry hippie violence, and nobody needs that. Unless of course you are planning on filming an episode of Bumfights. Do I smell synergy?

I have included the daily lists of bands after the jump for those that don't like squinting.

Conor Oberst, Lucinda Williams Head Outside Lands Additions

The first batch of artist additions has been announced for the Outside Lands Festival set to take place Aug 28-30 in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.

The latest additions include:

Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band
Lucinda Williams
The Avett Brothers
Tea Leaf Green
Zion I
Bat For Lashes
Groundation
Los Campesinos!
Darondo with Nino Moschella
Big Light

Sounds good to me, keep em coming.

Outside Lands Lineup Is Here And Pretty Awesome

If you like Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, or the Beastie Boys you are probably going to enjoy this. If you like all three of them like most sane people you are really going to enjoy this. And if you like Incubus and The Black Eyed Peas may some powerful force have mercy on your diseased soul. The festival is set to take place in Golden Gate Park Aug 28-30th.

Here's the ridiculous jingle if you want to watch.

For now I'm going to list the can't miss sets as Pearl Jam, Ween, Mars Volta, Mastodon, and Akron/Family. What are your thoughts on the initial lineup?

Outside Lands Festival Returns, Is Going To Stay

The Outside Lands Festival set in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco is returning Aug 28-30 for a weekend of fun in the fog and overcast, with awesome music blaring through the city. While last year's fest may have had some issues (I hear Friday entrance was unacceptably terrible), the idea and location are certainly nothing to complain about. This year marks the beginning of a 5 year deal with the city, so you can expect to be traveling to SF in late August for the foreseeable future.

These dates should also answer the question of where Dave Matthews Band is playing in San Francisco on Aug 29, the main stage in Golden Gate Park. The official lineup is set to be released in the next few weeks and I for one and hopeful that Sunday night headliner comes in the aquatic variety. In which case this is slowly turning into the best weekend I could ever imagine, especially when you consider that A) Umphrey's has skipped the west coast all year and is somewhat obligated to visit before fall, and B) Umphrey's didn't play the festival last year. Daytime festival set, with shows at the Fillmore on Friday and Saturday, here is to wishing. Who do you guys hope to see on this year's lineup?

DMB Is Really Hitting The Road

This is going to make that Wilco tour seem like a one-off show. The Dave Matthews Band will be embarking on a lengthy 7 month US tour marking the first since the death of founding member Leroi Moore. The fantastic Jeff Coffin, who was a temporary fill in last year as Moore attempted to recover from his ATV crash, has become an official member of the band. The band is set to release an album the day of the MSG show, but rumors insist the album will be delayed possibly til the summer.

It is nice to see Umphrey's doing what seems to have become their yearly opening spot for DMB at Alpine Valley in mid July. Also of note is the TBA venue for the San Francisco 8/29 date. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that might just mean a Saturday headlining slot at Outside Lands Festival that weekend, if of course that festival is happening again. The Giants have a home game that night so it is definitely not at ATT Park. Let's just say if you want to go to Outside Lands this year you should feel pretty comfortable booking Aug 28-30.

My Camera is in Love

When I took this picture I certainly don't remember seeing the unicorn or even the hearts but they clearly must have been there as the photo offers proof. I don't know if it is that Grace Potter just goes around with a bunch of hearts floating nearby (entirely possible btw, she is that amazing) or if my camera simply was able to capture my emotions as well as the image when I took the picture.

Now I just need to figure out how to trick her into thinking sex with me is a good idea. Any suggestions?
