LOST Viral: Lost-Inspired Art Announced, Tim Doyle’s Hurley Art Revealed

partyvirallost2

Previously on the Lost Viral: Human Giant comedian Paul Scheer presented Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse with a velvet painting and announcing his new website DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com., where he planned to devote his life to making Lost-inspired paintings. Soon after we received a FEDEX’d letter from Ronie Midfew Arts, declaring that “Mr. Scheer is creating this LOST-inspired artwork without authorization.” After harassing phone calls and legal letters, last week Paul was invited by Ronie Midfew Arts to have a meeting at their Beverly Hills art gallery. They agreed to forces for “The Ultimate Lost Event” which was held last night at at Bardot in Los Angeles.

So what happened at the Lost Viral event? Details after the jump.

I wasn’t there so I’m going to have to rely on those who were to pass along the information. The outside of the club had a Dharma inspired logo (seen above). Inside there were paintings on the wall, the only one notable was a painting (see above) of The Black Rock. I believe this painting might have also appeared on the show. DJ AM was spinning with a customized logo featuring the four toed foot from the island, and a custom DJ AM Dharma jumpsuit. In front of the DJ booth was something that looked like The Hatch. The photos above thanks to
HollywoodBob and JonathanZuniga.

Then a special guest arrived: Sterling Beaumon, who has appeared on the show as Young Ben Linus made an appearance, and has an announcement. Here is a video thanks to Twitvid and HollywoodBob:

Sterling announced the “first frame”, a website called ActuallyItsKetchup.com. The website contains the first of 16 commissioned Lost-inspired art pieces which will be hand signed by the artist and numbered, made available to the public in a limited edition of only 300.

The first frame contains a Hurley inspired piece called “The Numbers”, which was created by Tim Doyle, an artist we’ve featured on the site many times in the past two years. Here is what the site says:

“In celebration of LOST’s final season and as a project of fan appreciation, 16 top designers and artists, who are also fans of the show, were commissioned to create artwork celebrating one of the series’ most memorable, and unforgettable, “water cooler” moments. This ultimate “fan art” was then turned into labor intensive, hand-pulled screen prints, limited to an edition of just 300, with less than 200 available to the public through our websites. Each beautiful poster tells its own different story, allowing the fan to relive memorable and influential moments in an artistic manner, as the show’s storied run comes to a close. Once this limited edition print has sold out, they will never be printed again. Celebrate the fandom, community and family created by one of televisions’ greatest shows by hanging a little part of it’s history, inspiration and influence on your wall.”

A commentator in our previous post mentioned that the Ronnie Midfew suit (above photo, bottom right) looked suspiciously like Jensen, the proprietor of the famous Gallery 1988 art gallery. I’ve never met Jensen, so I can’t confirm/deny this claim, but I will say that if it is — it is beginning to make complete sense.

Many of you will recall that we’ve featured art from some of Gallery 1988’s pop culture-inspired Crazy4Cult art shows over the past few years. I’ve purchased quite a few prints from the past shows, and love the art work. It seems to me that in addition to the viral fun, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have put together this “art show” to celebrate with the fans the final season of Lost. They’re putting together a collection of Lost-inspired art prints from some of the cool artists I love from the Crazy4Cult shows. Personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on some of the art that is to come.

Mad Men star Rich Sommer takes FunnyorDie on an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the set of the upcoming third season of the period advertising drama. Tons of spoilers, but don’t worry, AMC has gone through the footage and censored anything they didn’t want you to see/know. Actually, we pretty much don’t learn anything. Watch the video after the jump.

Lost Viral: Ultimate Lost Event Sunday Night in LA?

zz538eacce

Previously on the Lost Viral: Human Giant comedian Paul Scheer presented Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse with a velvet painting and announcing his new website DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com., where he planned to devote his life to making Lost-inspired paintings. Soon after we recieved a FEDEX’d letter from Ronie Midfew Arts, declaring that “Mr. Scheer is creating this LOST-inspired artwork without authorization.” A couple people in the comments figured out that Ronie Midfew Arts is actually an anagram for Widmore Fine Arts. Yes, as in Charles Widmore. Paul broke into the Lost production offices and discovered the title of the first episode of season six.

After harassing phone calls and legal letters, last week Paul was invited by Ronie Midfew Arts to have a meeting at their Beverly Hills art gallery. And it turns out that Ronie Midfew isn’t the evil villain that we had first assumed (or is he?). Paul says that “Ronnie” was very persuasive and convinced Paul to join forces for “The Ultimate Lost Event”. More information after the jump.

Paul writes:

“I can’t get into the full details of our agreement at this time. However I can say that I agreed to TEMPORARILY stop production and promotion of my LOST inspired velvet artistry for an undisclosed reason in lieu of a new opportunity which I ultimately think will blow your mind. Wow, that was a mouthful. This new endeavor is an idea I’ve had for quite some time but never had the resources to produce myself but my partnership with this group is finally going to make it possible. Case in point, after I pitched my idea to Ronie we were able to take the concept to Damon and Carlton at their offices in Los Angeles and include them in on it as well. Which means this project is going to be done with the full support of the LOST team. I used to think Ronie Midfew Arts was the devil but if the devil loves Lost as much as I do how bad of a guy can he be? If we are able to pull off this idea, which we will, this will be much better than anything that I could put on velvet. This is truly for all of us fans of LOST. Unfortunately to support this endeavor fully DAMONCARLTONANDAPOLARBEAR will change it’s focus and direction and this might be the last time your hear from me for quite some time. But know that I’ll be behind the scenes working hard to pull this off.”

Paul also posted the above photo showing the pact between him, the Ronnie Midfew suit, and Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (which once again confirms that this is some official shot). And according to Paul, apparently “the hunt will begin” tonight at midnight pst. What could this all be about?

Update: At midnight, the website DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com transformed into something new.

All the Single Ladies...

I accept your judgment for watching The Bachelor this year, but I won't apologize. Maybe it makes me feel more sane watching 25 strangers pretend to be best friends and fall in love with a man they've known for a few weeks and spent, at most, 2 hours alone with. And how does ABC consistently find women that have seemingly never seen the show to familiarize themselves with the format? There are always a few that act so surprised when they have to rap in front of a fireplace on national television. Then again, why am I trying to make sense of this... most of these women are batshit crazy. In real life, if a girl at a bar told you she had a vision board to will your love, had memorized all your cousins names before you met and wrote you a poem about your future wedding day - she would be sent packing and fast.

I thought it might take a long time to find a quote that gives non-watchers the best summation. It took less than one minute. Appendages have always been confusing to me too.

"The toughest part about being with the women in the house, um, was the fact that there were so many {sigh} different, you know, things going on at once. People were going on dates, people are feeling this way, you know, it's like a whole bunch of arms, and then there is like one body, and then you're just like not really sure how to feel at any significant moment."
