Jukebox The Ghost Bring Schizophrenia To Letterman

The three piece Washington DC based Jukebox The Ghost made their national television debut last night on The Late Show With David Letterman where they played a new song "Schizophrenia". The piano based track will serve as the opener on the band's upcoming release Everything Under The Sun which hits stores September 7th. For those that can't get the hook out of their head, the album version of the tune is currently streaming on the band's myspace page as well as their hefty upcoming tour schedule which hits the west coast at the end of September and even includes a few Best Buy gigs. Music Video Of The Day: The Morning Benders - All Day Day Light

Here's the official "All Day All Light" video from one of our favorite albums of the year, The Morning Benders' Big Echo. In the Jack Ferry directed video we see the band perform as the seasons change around them and various lyrics overtake the screen. Oh yeah, and it's heavy on the handclaps, as it should be. Chris Chu and company have a pretty busy schedule ahead that takes them all over the world, but you can catch their North American dates starting in early October. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.  [via stereogum]

Watch Chromeo Get All Business Casual On Morning Becomes Eclectic

The day after sharing the Hollywood Bowl stage with The Chemical Brothers and Yacht, SHA favorites Chromeo joined KCRW's Jason Bentley for Morning Becomes Eclectic. Aside from some talk box heavy conversation, Dave 1 and P-Thugg blast through some of their bigger past hits in addition to some tracks from their upcoming release Business Casual. The new songs getting the in-studio treatment are the first two singles "Don't Turn The Lights On" and "Night By Night" as well as the record's opening number "Hot Mess". Sadly the album's US release date had recently been pushed back to September 14 but that certainly didn't hinder their awesome performance.

Morning Becomes Eclectic Setlist

  • Tenderoni
  • Bonafide Lovin’
  • Night by Night
  • Don’t Turn the Lights On
  • Hot Mess
  • Needy Girl
  • Fancy Footwork

Watch Benevento Russo Duo Acoustic Becky, Download Entire Show

Last Friday night Super Hella Awesome favorites Marco Benevento and Joe Russo combined forces for the one and only Duo show of 2010, an acoustic affair at New York City's Highline Ballroom. For those that weren't able to attend the show I have some great news for you, the most important of which would be that Marco informed the crowd the Duo were still very much in cahoots, and actually intend to record new music together this year. Putting the cart in front of the horse it seems the world could be gifted a new Duo album next year, and one would hope a few shows in support of it. Heaven forbid a full fledged tour.

The other bits of news are more of the immediate consumption variety as we have a killer video below of the band's final song of the evening "Becky". Thanks to Clinton Vadnais for the unbelievably great vid (if you have any more from the show please let us know). As a small sampling of The Duo's only performance of the year will do, you are probably now bitter that you can't bask in the rest of the awesome, but have no fear as the amazing NYC Taper covered the show and now has a crisp copy of the show up for download. Head on over to his website for the deets, just don't forget to say thank you.

Check Out Ben Folds, Nick Hornby & Pomplamoose's VideoSong Things You Think

We're still a little over a month away from the release of Lonely Avenue, the collaboration between songwriter extraordinaire Ben Folds and plain old writer extraordinaire Nick Hornby. Usually this means we can start expecting videos and the like from the album, but Ben Folds certainly doesn't really follow the normal route. Instead of a fancy video for a single from the album, "Foldsby" have teamed up with Pomplamoose to record one of their VideoSongs on a tune that is explicity not on their upcoming release.

Things You Think is (almost!) a VideoSong, a new medium with 2 rules:
1. What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
2. If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).

(It got pretty layered, so we might have missed a shot or two, but it's pretty much all there.)

Definitely a cool idea that I can fully support, unlike my addiction to saran wrap. As far as I know the actual record doesn't feature much, if any, of the Hornsby spoken word, although it sort of works for this tune. Lonely Avenue is scheduled for a September 28th release. "Things You Think" is available through iTunes now.

Also that's why I'm not Dickens.

Music Video Of The Day: Foxy Shazam - Unstoppable

Today we have the latest video from Cincinnati based rockers Foxy Shazam for the track "Unstoppable" off of their awesome new self-titled album. As for the inspiration behind the fancy Jeremy E. Jackson directed video, frontman Eric Nally attributes a certain SHA favorite.

I wanted to do something old school, no computer effects, it's all done through puppeteering Jim Henson style! This video is heavy on the imagination.   [via]

Two men who have been known to rock amazing mustaches respecting one another the way it should be, although in all fairness it's worth noting I don't remember Jim Henson having such amazing dance moves.

Watch Fistful Of Mercy's Debut Live Performance

Well that didn't take long. After first learning about the new supergroup Fistful Of Mercy featuring Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and Dani Harrison just yesterday, we now have video of their entire debut performance, a secret show for friends and family done at Village Studios. Earlier today the set was played as part of KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic and thus the official video you see below.

The extremely laid back atmosphere lends itself well to the rawness of the band's first appearance. We here at SHA headquarters are loving what these guys are putting out, but we're admittedly a bit bias. More importantly what are your thoughts on Fistful Of Mercy?

Nickelback Frontman Chad Kroeger Ruined Some Woman's Life

It's easy to pick on Nickelback for their offensive brand of terd-rock but there really is not much in the way of actual evidence of their evil ways, that is until frontman Chad Kroeger totally ruined this woman's life. It should be noted this is a little more personal and gossipy than most of the stuff you see on SHA but a heart was broken and subsequently posted on youtube, and well you know, f*cking look at this photograph, every time I do it makes me laugh.

The youtube description doubles as a modernized Romeo & Juliet only in this case Romeo is trying to ruin Juliet's life.  Let us in on your incredible plight sad lady so we can all learn of the devil that is Chad Kroeger. As a warning it's long but it's also incredibly something, what that something is I'm just not sure.

I created this video & kept it on private BEFORE I found out that Chad K had a girlfriend practically the whole time I was naively sending letter after letter to him via facebook & myspace AFTER Daniel spoke to me at Spotlight bar in Hollywood. What would you think if TOO MANY of a band's songs over the years sound like they were ripped from pages of your life, & then these SUPERSTARS who normally wouldn't give you the time of day acknowledged your existence-SPOKE TO YOU FIRST? Chad K is SICK to have "played" me this way when I did NOTHING to deserve it. There was NO reason for any member of Nickelback to ever show up at some stupid bar I was at & speak to me first unless Chad K knew who I was! ***See my prof pic on myspace under alicia arol to know the OLD ME I believe Chad knew of many yrs ago via ECTV.

*At a point in my life when I am not strong enough to handle it (due to too many bad things that have happened to me in the past 20 months), I found out that Chad K-Rich, Famous, "Rock Star" blessed in every enviable, imaginable way "played" me (who has NOTHING & is barely hanging on to life) for a naive FOOL. I've now gone "MAD". I fight back tears & struggle not to breakdown on a daily basis. While Chad K was under no legal obligation to not "mess with" my fragile mind-he was under a MORAL OBLIGATION. Thank's to Chad's heartless disregard of me as a thinking, feeling human being, I've NEVER felt more like a piece if sht or wanted to die more in my life. Chad K & his "POSSE" know EXACTLY how they together "tricked" me into thinking Chad had feelings for me when (as I recently found out) it wasn't true. Chad & Nickelback KNOW exactly what events transpired at a bar in Hollywood on 2 separate occasions when 2 of Nickelback's band members (Ryan then Daniel) approached and spoke to me. I'm a 5'10, pretty, curvaceous, blond. It was neither far fetched nor "delusional" of me to think that Chad K might want to get to know me better when he was engaged to non celebrity Maryanne Guriuk for over 5 years. Nickelback did weird things (messed with my mind) at this bar-things that "tricked" me into thinking that Chad K liked me. I'm 99.9% certain that Ryan approached me at Spotlight bar on a night the loudspeaker announced, "We have celebrities in the house". I hadn't told Nickelback I would be at that bar, so Ryan approaching me & speaking to me was proof that Nickelback was following me or spying on me. Daniel DID approach me on a subsequent date & referenced something I had said in the letters I had recently started sending to Nickelback via myspace (proof that they were reading my letters). I believed that Chad had to know of me somehow-otherwise why would these "Rock Stars" approach & talk to stupid, NOBODY me in the first place? I believed that at some future date when he was ready to do so, Chad K would materialize and tell me to my face what was going on? Chad never came, so I never got "CLOSURE", and this drove me to MADNESS, because NOBODY believes that I'm telling the truth (not even my friends and fam). Even a shrink would desperately try to convince me that I'm delusional when I know what happened in regards to me & Nickelback. I found out on 7/14 that Chad had been sharing his life and bed with Kristin the entire time I was sending him letters (that the band never either acknowledged or BLOCKED me from sending to them). This news stabbed me in the gut. I couldn't bear to think about how I had humiliated myself & spilled my guts out to Chad & his band month after month that he was in bed with his new girlfriend. But I NEVER would have believed that Chad K intended to "Someday" save me from my miserable life had that band NEVER INTENTIONALLY FKD WITH my fragile mind & had instead simply left me the fk alone! I never did anything hurtful to Nickelback. I didn't deserve this kind of heartless disregard of my feelings. I don't want Chad. Even if he was physically attracted to me, I know that I can't be the kind of woman he wants & he can't be the kind of man who would be good for me. The ONLY reason that I ever thought otherwise is because Chad wrote the beautiful, song "Savin Me". What Nickelback did to me when I was living my life & minding my own GD FKING business was neither right nor fair. This man who has EVERYTHING had no right to intentionally drive me mad. I have no proof that any of what I'm saying is the truth. I've even been asking myself if Nickelback's ultimate goal was to drive me MAD? Nobody forced me to believe that Chad liked me, but what would any of you think if "Rock Stars" just up & acknowledged your pitiful existence one day? You'd think the same GD thing I thought! What I'm doing out here is pathetically expressing my pain, because this thing that Nickelback never should have started with me has driven me MAD, & what other "recourse" besides what I've been doing do I have against a SUPERSTAR when he refuses to tell both me & the world the truth?

I'm still trying to figure out if the sideways camera for the video was an artistic choice. Either way do you think she is still single?   [via vulture]

Watch Mavis Staples Cover Some Creedence With Jeff Tweedy

Here's a nice little performance of the Creedence Clearwater Revival tune "Wrote A Song For Everyone" by Mavis Staples and Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy. The track is one of many covers that will appear on Staples new Tweedy produced album You Are Not Alone, as well as a couple new originals from the man himself. The legendary gospel singer's album is set for a September 14th release.   [via mojo]

Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur And Dhani Harrison Are Fistful Of Mercy

Super group alert, with a Beatles connection no less. Fresh off a debut album and subsequent headlining tour with a new band Relentless 7, Ben Harper is set to repeat the process with the newly formed Fistful Of Mercy. Joining in on the fun this time around will be indie darling Joseph Arthur and Dhani Harrison, son of the late George Harrison. While the band is slated to release their debut album October 5th, the buzz machine is officially in full motion as of today.

Starting things off we have our first taste of the sound one can expect from Fistful Of Mercy, and unsurprisingly it is awesome. The video below features the self-titled track which sees all three musicians on guitar and vocals. The interwebs is suggesting those who want to learn more about the newly formed group to visit the KCRW website at  2pm EST tomorrow for their first radio gig. In what is setting up to be a pretty big day for the fellas, Seattle's Easy Street Records just announced their "first public performance" will take place tomorrow evening. Best part? It's free.   [via antiquiet]
